Thanks Rick. I trace them anyway as I usually need to resize as building all my models at 1:12 and like to print the parts out for transferring to ply but it would have been easier to work from accurate templates rather than redesign them.

The Huntsman 28 is ready for painting and came out well and being smaller than the Veron kit I modified it so that the superstructure lifts off in one rather than having hatches in the cockpit and cabin roof to gain access.

Hi All - it was me (probably amongst others) that posted awhile ago about the poor drawings that guy on Ebay sells. The ones I bought were for the Fairey Swordsman and Huntsman 28. The kit drawings were fine (unsurprisingly being Aerokits and Veron respectively), but the hand drawn templates were shocking being unsymmetrical, inaccurate slots, wavy lines etc. and would involve a lot of work and a challenge to build from them even for the more experienced. He has quite a few plans advertised. How he has the nerve to sell such poor drawings and copyright them as well (!) I don't know.

Fortunately for me I can draw and so just used the kit drawings to produce my own templates.

Hi Paul

Not sure if I'm just unlucky but slight word of warning and nothing that can't be sorted. I also purchased templates from eBay guy and have used them to trace and replace the missing bits.
Came across a problem today dry fitting the main cabin. The ringed area in the photo is an ebay template reproduction the others are taken from originals. You can see its way out but I suppose if I'd have produced them all from the ebay plans it may have been OK.
Just a thought for you to contemplate.

Paul.
I overlooked to mention the 'Plans & Docs' area of this website that has photos, drawings and videos of the Crash Tenders that were a very useful resource when I was building my boat.
If you are considering building from a kit the VMW 46" Crash Rescue Tender is definitely the one to go for.
There are a couple of other kits available but they're not a patch on the Vintage Model Works version.

Same thought here!Didn't regret buying my kit from VMW. Couldn't buy all the wood for the price. Getting back into assembling wooden boat kits has been fun.

Hi Paul.
You have confirmed exactly where I had suspected these duff plan's came from. As Doug mentioned, it's happened too often before.
I hate to think that you've wasted your money on the duff 'plan's, and the cost of the plywood that you have probably wasted too.
I initially hesitated to recommend buying a proper kit as we here don't discourage going it alone and scratchbuilding models but now I won't hesitate to recommend that you invest in a Vintage Model Works kit and do it properly.
Read the build blogs and see just how easy and satisfying the construction of the kit can be.
Good luck and Best wishes. 👍😀

Seen this before what he selling isn't worth anything but will give you heartache! The so called plan is a copy Les Rowes Original Drawing! The templates he does himself. Absolute rubbish to put together. Even the assembly notes are original. I went with the VMW kit therefore no problem

Paul, If it would be of any use to you, I have the plan and elevation for the Aerokits 34" crash tender. Don't know if you could get it scaled up but at least it shows you where all the bits and pieces go. I'll gladly send it to you if it would be of use.

Cheers, Nerys

That sounds familiar Rob. Esp. re the symmetry, or lack of.
Didn't we have someone else who got caught by these a while ago?
Must be a way we can stop this guy somehow before others fall into this trap!😠
Anyone know the link (URL) to his offer?

Doug.
There's a guy on eBay who knocks out these so called plans for £15 but states that they are 'hand drawn' and a total rip off IMHO 😮.
Perhaps Paul has a set of those ?
At best these 'templates' will be out by at least a few mm's all round and may not even be symmetrical.

Paul.
It sounds like someone has just sold you some outline tracings from a used kit, either the parts themselves or just from the holes left behind in the ply sheets 😮.
Not exactly what I would call plans by any stretch of the imagination.☹️
I attach a copy of the original Keil Kraft assembly diagram that may help you to see how it goes together.
I think you may have found an image of the assembly instructions elsewhere?

Plans for 46inch RAF tender

Hi Paul.
Welcome to the model-boats.com site and all of us loonies (speaking for myself !) that frequent this place 😁.
There are lots of build blogs of 46" Fireboats on this site including my own:
https://model-boats.com/blogs/23951?sort=ASC
And more recently Mturpin013: https://model-boats.com/blogs/37275?sort=ASC
There are many others on the site too, hopefully they will give you some guidance on how the model is constructed.
Did the plans you are working from come with any dimensions or construction notes or are they just templates of the components?
Be assured that what ever questions you have about this model will be answered to the best of our knowledge.
