Photo of your project??

Spence

I have read through your various posts about the problems experienced with the catamaran type of boat, but you’ve supplied not photos of it.

Photos are worth a thousand words they help people to understand what you are dealing with and spot possible problems.

So post some photos.

One of my motors would run hot until I found the right size prop.

Also if your esc or speed control is rate for 6v as stated earlier, you can’t be using a 12v battery. Same goes for the motor.

I use only 7.2v NiMh batteries .

Some people use LiPo batteries but these require brushless motors and when charging the battery it can explode causing a fire. All kinds of warnings and precautions must be followed if using this battery. Which is why I don’t want to use them.

Post some photos please.

Hugh uses a tennis ball attached to a simple spinning reel, no rod. He throws the ball over the stranded vessel then slowly cranks the fishing reel and the line drags across the superstructure and snags on it so the vessel then can be slowly and carefully can be hauled back to shore.

I hav a full fishing rod, bearing one of those slotted orange balls that you throw for dogs. I hav found that the "whip" of the rod tip gets me more distance & aiming better.

On occasion we have used the long aluminum J-poles from the lifesaving stations, sometimes 2 at a time.

Jun has crafted a recovery boat, it has an air-prop for operating among weeds. There is a servo-deployable rudder but the best steering is a servo that swivels the air prop motor. works well to retrieve sailboats. His hull/chassis started with a swimmer's flutterboard/kickboard abt 2' long, he cut a U at the front so it looks like a catamaran, the U at bow catches the stranded vessel.....the prop is at the back, almost the stern
