SLEC are good and reliable.
Fifteen Years ago I built a Tony Nijhuis Lancaster The Big One. My father and I spent 3 Years building it. As we were detailing it ( Rivet Heads and dead rear gunner my father passed away with Leukemia. As my eyesight is no longer brilliant I wouldn't fly because over the 3 years building it I couldn't see my Tiger Moth whether it was coming or going. So stopped flying. The Lancaster has been up once flown by a friend of mine.👍👍

Yes Geoff it was SLEC, I was ordering some lime strip last night as my usual supplier was out of stock and read their warnings on balsa. Actually I saw a mention of it a week or so ago somewhere else, but cannot remember where. As it happens, it doesn't affect me, I never buy balsa, I'm allergic to it.!

Hi Nerys, I assume you have looked at the SLEC website. I have seen this note also. I have known this company for many years as I have built model aircraft for the last 20 years, but back to boats now as cataracts are getting in the way. They have a long history of importing balsawood and have always been so helpful, I have on occasions visited and chosen my own stock. They took over the stock and kit manufacturing from a company at Watton known as Balsacraft who produced many aircraft kits. I think they are now producing the boat kits formerly produced there.
