hi, thanks for that. if I remember rightly there is a set up sequence that sets the neutral and max forward and reverse. it has something to do with a little button marked S/W and a flashing light( a bit like the Mtroniks set up). it never used to do it when it was installed in a Kyosho powerboat. its only since I put it in my Deans Showgirl that its started to do it. I think I will try and contact Ripmax as I believe that it was still available up until quite recently

Not familiar with this ESC but it sounds like the pulse width on your modern transmitter is outside the allowable range for the ESC. You have not said but I am assuming you are on full revs before cut-out?
I occasionally get a similar problem with Mtroniks ESC's. I cure by electronically reducing the throw on my transmitter. if you do not have this facility you could try placing a piece of plastic at each end of the transmitter stick to reduce the throw.
I am also assuming there are no obvious adjustment pots on the ESC that might do what you require.
