R.N.Dark Class

Thanks Rowen,
My hull is buried deep in the shed somewhere. It's been embarrassing how slow this one has been. The model was built to a level where I could give it a test run with a couple of 540 motors back in the 1990s. It just got shelved and damaged as other projects took higher priority, which was a great shame.
A club member built one some years ago and although his wasn't a detailed model, it looked very impressive on the water. These are the last photographs of the hull taken back in 2015.
I am considering replacing the two motors for brushless and the exposed prop shafts now have a thrust collar where they exit the hull.
As previous, I wish I could get back on with the build, just too many other things going on.

R.N.Dark Class

Thanks Tony,
Rechecked the site and had made a mistake. P1120 had the appendage, as it seems did the export ones.
Not too hard to reproduce, but would love to know what it was for!
My hull is held up somewhere in lock-down. Guess will get it sometime.
Seems a fairly straightforward build, planning in using a couple of brushless motors left over from another project so should go quite well.
How much of yours have you done?
There is very little on this model on the various sites I peruse, not quite as evocative as a Vosper!

Looking at the Coastal Forces Veterans site, the last one P1120 Dark Scout was the only one with an all aluminium hull. The photographs in the link show her with the feature fitted.
Another site worth looking at is the British Military Powerboat Team.
Wishing you every success with the build as this should build into a good model. I have a GRP hull in the shed and hope to re-start building some time in the future.

R.N.Dark Class

Have decided to build a scale model of one of these vessels as my next project.
Various vessels in the class had this feature, which looks rather like an air intake on both sides of the hull around mid ships. The last one built did not though, it also has stern exhausts, not side as the earlier ones did.
Does anybody have any thoughts on what it is?
Thanks
