"If it is a “loose footed” jib, I don’t think you need the bowsprit..."
So it just stays foot loose and fancy free huh Larry? 😁
OK OK, I know. Back to the cave 🤔
Was just off anyway 😁 Fancy a beer Rob? 😋 Get yer coat!

I agree with Capt. Larry, a simple blade keel should be adequate, but rather than have fishing weights stuck on, I'd have a bigger keel to compensate.

A simple blade keel with long fishing weights attached to the foot might work. A 90° bend at the hull attachment point, and through mounted to the hull. Fill edges with epoxy. Not scale looking, but functional.

I expect you will be able to use one servo for sheeting both main and mizzen, but I think the jib will most probably be left, like the real Broads boats do laced to a jib boom and a self acting sheet, in other words sheeted in fairly tight for going to windward, My Bella is rigged like that and it seems to work and the jib fills on the opposite side to the mainsail when running dead before the wind. The foresails on my barges, and real ones. work like this too I wouldn't worry about an overlapping jib, complicates things as to work properly, you need two servos.

I'm sure we'll get your boat sailing well before long.

Had a quick look inside it today, the sail winch servo seems to be working OK, but the line to the aft sail is broken.
The rudder and its servo are missing, so replacement required.
There is a hole above the keel slot that looks like it is where it is screwed in.
Now I need to figure out how to make a keel.

If it is a “loose footed” jib, I don’t think you need the bowsprit....the jib is supposed to overlap the main just a little to create a “slot” that accelerates the air past the leading edge of the mainsail. This produces more “lift” for greater power. Otherwise, rig the jib boom “clew” as close to the mainmast as you can.

Thank you for your responses shipmates, I now think I know what you mean and I will proceed with cautious anticipation to get her into sailing trim.
Next issue is the keel or lack of one, I will have to get a look inside to see how it is supposed to be fitted, all I know is that there is a slot in the bottom of the Hull.

Looking at the picture where you have fitted a jib boom and a bowsprit, I think you have more or less solved the problem for yourself. Definitely a Bermudan ketch. Looks as if the standing rigging is all there. A forestay with the jib attached and you may need a bobstay from the outboard end of the bowsprit to the bow, just on the waterline.

Hi Colin,
Not really my field either 😉 but she looks like a type of ketch to me.
Can't be a schooner cos part of the schooner definition is that the aft mast(s) is / are taller than the foremast. Looks like a 'Ketch alternate' to me, see attached pic showing various types.
BTW; I reckon your 'boom' is there but has come adrift from the mast!😮
Correction: reckon you're right Colin, the bowsprit is missing and that's where the foresail is attached.
I'm sure Nerys will know how to reconnect it properly 😉

This is a ketch rig....the jib (foresail) is self tending, and the “tack” is pivoted to the forestay which appears to be missing. If it is a “full”rig the forestay will will go to the top of the mast...a 3/4 rig will go to just above the spreaders.

Looking for a description to go with this model, not had much to do with model sail so I'm thinking either a ketch or schooner.???.
There are servos to each of the 3 sails, haven't seen inside it yet so don't know what else it needs.
There is a slot in the bottom to fit a keel but I haven't figured out how to attach it yet or how big it needs to be.
The Hull is 3 foot 6 inches long, will do some more investigating tomorrow.
Cheers Colin.

Just had another look at some of the sailing models and I think it's missing a boom??? At the bow, so I have just put a piece of 1/2" dowel in the hoop on the front and a couple of tie wraps to hold the sail in place, does this look at all right.

Good evening to one and all, I've just acquired an old yacht?
Haven't got a clue if it's complete or not but it looks to be all there apart from the keel and rear cover?
Have figured out how the masts go, and the rigging to 2 of the sails but not a clue on the front sail, so looking for some pointers from the sailing buffs.
All input gratefully received, cheers Colin.
