We'll know for next time won't we ? 😉😉 We can have a nice story ready😉😁 Do you think we should ask for a commission, or a % of the sale ?? (thoughts unpostable)

Actually Colin it was Martin555 who first found his Fairacre post on Ebay.
It made me curious and not a little annoyed.
So I did some research.
He runs a vintage model business from his home in Becknoll Rd Barnsley.
His vendor name is vintagemodels3011.
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=vintagemodels3011
He has posts for various models, including the boats he enquired about here, all over Europe.
The Russian Patrol boat he asked about here went for 505 quid 🤑

Would be nice if he at least contributed to the upkeep of our site as recompense for our members efforts on his behalf.

Bit of a shame about the colour Colin but as you say, a good sand and a change of colour might look a bit more 'period'. A lot of people here (and no doubt round the world) paint over varnished topsides on the full sized classic boats, as they are either too lazy to keep the original varnished coamings in good nick, or don't like varnish, which totally destroys the classic look. Once painted, it's almost impossible to go back.

The cabin sides and deck on mine are ply and the cabin tops planked balsa, so Chris might have a chance with careful sanding to change it back, if his is the same, -although there's an awful lot of blue to get rid of! Alternatively, a few brass fittings on the foredeck etc and some stained grab rails on the cabin tops would break it up. Then again, Chris might like blue😁?

It's a 'Fairacre II' broads cruiser, same as the one I've restored and just been doing a few improvements on (see post and vids). Modelled on the real Bates 'Starcraft' 'Fairacre II' (see second pic) which I managed to dig the info up on. Plan was Model Maker Plans No 709, still probably available from Sarik as a re-print. Plan was probably from the late 50s- early 60s.

I'm inclined towards a kit built hull with scratchbuilt cabins, wheelhouse etc.

Cheers, Nerys

Chris, it looks to be constructed on the lines of either a Precedent or Norstar kit.size is almost the same as the Precedent Fairey Huntsman, but the cabin layout is different.
Are there any markings or details visible inside.
Although it may be a scratch built or modified model.
Look forward to any more details you can supply.
It's a lovely looking model with very mid 20th century lines.
Cheers Colin.
