Hi Alan good luck with the S50 Stuart engine build. Stuart make some very nice engines.
I have an H10 Stuart engine that runs very well.I run it on air at some of my club events.
Keep us updated on your progress and plans to build .

Hi Alan, and well done I am full of admiration for your efforts on the metal machining front, which will definitely help when you get around to the S50 a very nice stationary side valve. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the castings, mind considering the cost they should be spot on. Please post a photo or two of the oscillating (wobbler) when complete. Regards, Gary.

Thanks Gary, yes the piston is machined for a supplied o ring. I have the Standard to paint up then final assembly. 👍

Thanks mturpin013. At the moment its compressed air, I have a Stuart S50 lined up next. Then maybe a boiler is in the offing. Model engineering is a polar opposite to my day to day as a wood machinist 👍

Well done Alan, I think I'm another "Slack-Handful"
member,
Out of interest what type of boiler are you going to use/make

Well done on the steam engine. Satisfying when you see it running. As Gary said welcome to the steam side. A small group inside a larger group of boat modelers willing to help when ever needed.

Congratulations and well done. I felt I had to drop you a line as there is only a slack handful of folks on here who are into steam. Out of curiosity did you fit an O ring on the piston? Plus an O ring on the con-rod where it goes through the bottom plate would be useful. Please consider yourself to be a member of "The Slack-Handful Club". Regards, Gary.

This is a simple wobbler engine. It’s from a Stuart Turner kit. You get a drawing a body casting and various rod and sheet to produce the parts req.
I struggled, mainly with everything 🤔, but it works and I learnt a lot.
