AMPHITRUCK SWIMMING IN ESTUARY

Finally got a chance to have a better go with it in the water. Tried to catch the slack tide, but missed it again, so had the outgoing current to deal with. Still had a bit of fun with it, but the sand was just thick and silty again (needs low tide to dry out), so the truck had trouble getting out by itself. Water was also full of long pine needles and sticks which didn't help either. Fun all the same.

RC Sailing :- No.152 - H.M.S Solebay D70

HMS Solebay was a Battle-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. She was named after the Battle of Solebay which took place in 1672 between an Anglo-French force and the Dutch Navy during the Third Anglo-Dutch War. Solebay was built by R. & W. Hawthorn, Leslie & Company Limited on the Tyne. She was launched on 22 February 1944 and commissioned on 25 September 1945.

Trying the fire fighting capabilities on a meths fired Macrocarpa leaf fire, (I forgot about the rotation function, which made it less effective,) but it still worked ok. On Board tank is only 500ml so doesn't last long.

Camera Boat - still emerging !

From a design concept incorporating an old power boat destined for the rubbish tip ! - to a functional Camera platform to capture some of the fantastic models that sail at our local venues.

The emerging creation ( all be it rough and ready !) will incorporate rotating fan motor and 360 degree rotating camera with live feed FPV camera.

My enjoyment is to capture the the skill, time and effort that fellow modelers put into their creations - whether they be they scratch built, own designs, kit sets or off the shelf.

old wooden clipper (removed the hatch cover)

I have taken the old wooden hatch cover off to find out what was inside there was something that moved around when you tilted the boat found the end of a hand made brass anchor and the remains of some sort of leaf or plant the joints are sealed with tar the inside has been carved out i find it very strange that the two items were sealed up inside i think it is very old possible the 1900

Thank you colin i to am stuck for space at this time of year have turned third small bedroom into a small hobby room and do my bigger boats in the outdoor shed but its to cold this time so try and pick up on small projects.

bought as a project a long time ago

I bought this yacht as a kit in Auckland New Zealand 1973 as a project i was in the merchant navy working for the New Zealand Shipping co. on the M.V. Ruahine after we had dropped our passengers in wellington we would move around the coast picking up cargo it has taken me a long time to get the yacht like this a lot of alterations including the R/C

Hi Mike.
glad that i could help i took the entire cabin off this evening as i had to fit a new sail servo and on turning the cabin section upside down spotted very small numbers on sections of the wood i then remembered all the years ago that the deck and cabin etc came all marked out so you just had to cut them out very easy the hull was very thin plastic type and was prone to cracking a few years ago i striped the lot down and pumped builders foam inside the hull manage to marsked of the servo and rudder section and it made the hull a lot firmer and was still light i plus i know that it won't sink
