Progress is slow as I am in the process of selling my Mothers flat and it is also pretty cold working in my garage at the moment. I will add a few more piccies as soon as I start to add the deck. Second trip on water in 30yrs plus it's what's known as long build
Upgraded from first sail from 3 blade 9.6v ni-cad to 4 blade 12v ni-mh
Speed and handling are fine for grand children at this time will wind it up at a later date
Another ebay purchase, a Fire Tender which I think is from the 50's. it is fitted with a very unusual old motor with sprung loaded brushes, capacitors, and a fan.... seems to run happily on 12v, which I plan to reinstall. Does anybody recognise it? it was fitted with a 'spring' universal joint. I am fitting a conventional UJ. There is also a circular switch attached to the motor. This appears to be wired to switch in up to 3 battery supplies! but I think I will fit a modern controller with modern nicads.
I sail at the Maldon and Blackwater Model Boat Club at Heybridge.

- frankburgessMaster SeamanHIHI Yes it is...I scratch built it using a GRP 'workboat' hull as a base. I used a simple drawing from the 'Jolie Brise' book blown up to size. I altered the bow, stern and the keel to match the drawing. The rig is slightly undersize and simple the keel is deeper, the deck layout is very approximate taken from photos but simplified to make it more robust for sailing. it has a winch for sail control and the rudder is controlled from the tiller via lines and blocks to a servo under the cabin top. As you probably know the boat was bought as a Le Havre Pilot boat by EG Martin who then instigated the Fasnet Race, which Jolie Brise won 3 times. Thanks for recognising it.....best regards Frank

( well, I know they are wearing wellies, so it can only be that the buttons on the weather jacket are on the wrong side?) What a delight, a superb model of building and engineering. Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir.This model was built from a Caldercraft Kit, This model came into my possession for the price of 20p, a raffle prize at Bryn Bach Model Clubs OPen Day 2010, when it was built is unknown. The item being made for display use and not finished off, no internal electronic fixtures. Did have a prop shaft and prop that had not been fitted correctly. 50% of all the fixtures had to be removed and refitted before they fell off, some didn't stay in place from the show back home. The model was finised off using a photo of the Milford star on the internet. The fish boxes and figures being obtained off DON one of the Society members who had a mould to make them in white metal, only required cleaning up and finishing off. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic on the water,a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The drive motor is a 550 with the lowest revs I had in MJB's this was married up to a 2.5/1 gearbox I also had in stock. The main motor and steam unit are supplied from a 7.2 volt nicad racing pack. This model has had meny fishing trips on Cwmbran Boating Lake and at shows the Society visit. This model has now been sold and replaced with a newly built Canadian Coastguard Griffon 2000TD built off a Mark Porter plan but using two Graupner Speed 600 motors, one powered by a 3000 Li-Po battery for thrust and the other on a 7.2v Ni-Cad for lift.

The weather having turned a balmy but gusty 9 degrees here in the sunny south. I thought I'd try my 34" boat again today.
Now somewhat lightened and with a new speed 600 motor and 9.6v Ni-Cad battery pack. she ran considerably better but is still somewhat bow heavy. As I have only restored her from an ebay purchase I'm not fully aware what might be causing the weight in the bow area but perhaps will try some weight further aft before attempting frontal surgery. Any ideas welcome.

I have the Hebert Adams book of his model boats which he later led to his model boat kit company 'Adamcraft' and he did a set of drawings of a/the Elco type Torpedo Boat in his book. I always wondered whether the Aerokits EVER BORROWED the drawings to make the commercial model? Whatever happened, it is nice to see such a stunner model which was not too populace as the Crash Boat/Sea Queen sales etc. A now passed away mate had one 20 /30 years ago with a I/c 25/30? and it planed and turned flat and nicely. in OZ we still CAN operate I/c easy and do not need to trail out an electric cable for power to get more than 5 minutes on the pond? Keep building good craft. I have a Lindberg CC Constellation partly built, do you have any internal photos showing the motors set up and prop shafts, did you use the stock rudders or something else? Any help gratefully received.
