The balsa planking seems a strange choice for such a big model as it is easy to dent in use - or even in transit!

I like the look of your Catalina, Doug, do you fly her and if so do you fly her from land or water, being an amphibian? I have a hankering for a seaplane just to run around the lake, not flying, but whether I'll get round to it now, I don't know.
I saw a Catalina at an airshow, years ago and was surprised what a big plane she was and I had a distant American relative who was an airgunner on one in the Korean war.

    Cheers, Nerys

Very impressive - your attention to detail is something else. Wish she was on my coffee table. How did you make the base and stand? Thank you, Gregg

Gregg... I use a contour gauge (pic). then draw it out on the wood. Dowels in between.

Congratulations on your well done model.
Every picture you took makes your model looks like the actual vessel.
I love the interior shots and this one is my favorite.😎

    Flaxybuck,

Yes..especially as one comment put it...they did not have the tools etc to make jewelry and all the fine work that it needs as they have now.
