Amsterdam Tug at Southport MBC Video 16 March 2025
AMSTERDAM TUG
The Amsterdam tugboat was built at the Johan Alkers Shipyard in Hamburg, Germany in 1971. It was specially built to handle and serve very large ships and super tankers of this modern age. Three other sister-ships where built, called Malabar, Tenace and Centour, and these are serving at this moment with the French navy.

Status of converted tug Judy B 🚤😊🤞
She is out of Toluca Lake, close to the Pacific Ocean in Southern California. Some of the very best ships came from those yards in Toluca Lake.
My dad made my Mom a great tugboat with this name back in the 1960's. We always had real boats, and the handmade and very detailed model would get pulled out of the dock box to get towed about while the barbeque was burning down. It got lost over the years and I have christened this beautiful ship in tribute to her. The curves on this tugboat are quite handsome and eye-catching from my rather jaundiced point of view. I can't wait to swing the compass, and run the measured mile with her. Peace to all my model boat enthusiast pals!

There's a really great shop in Glendale, I think, called Harbor Models...they have a great website and they are the kind of shop I want to back up a semi tractor trailer up to and buy everything!

Loganville tugboat out of the water
The Loganville is out of the water for its annual inspection and scrapping before being repainted.
Here is my model of it.

Nice model Ron, pretty good representation 👍 Looks like it's actually done some work.

That is lovely. I built mine recently but opted for clear coat to make it interesting at shows. A picture from the maiden voyage

That planked hull is a work of art, and can be appreciated for what it is and the work that went into it. Painting is for hiding mistakes and filler. Regards.

" Thor " - freelance design of a multicat vessel.
Some details of Thor. - by Dean Ratcliffe.

Thor is a freelance design of a multicat vessel. These rather unusual ships are real workhorses, designed as a work platform, often with a hiab crane. The square hull gives a large flat deck, with plenty of open space for a work area or for deck cargo. The design also enables the vessel to be used as a tugboat, either pushing or towing and are often equipped with large deck winches and strong points for this purpose. A true Swiss army knife of the sea, able to adapt to most roles, some even have additional internal fuel tanks for refuelling other vessels.

Scratch building a barge for my tugboat Miss Doris to push. May deck it over to become a tank barge I used to push on the Delaware River. if
i do deck it over, I'll hinge the deck to make use of the space for my RC gear.

Thanks for posting the photo of the barge build, gives me some ideas.... I have some tugs in progress, but no barges. I like the way you framed the hull. Joe

We should live so long Ed 😉
I may have the machines necessary to make a steam engine, but I sure don't have the expertise necessary🤔, like Hammer 👍 for instance does have! Anyone out there making mini marine diesels????
    Cheers, Doug 😎

Ionia
The model was bought off eBay as a barely started kit from the 80s and was called Ontario. it was a basic model with no detail and so we decided to make it into a tugboat it had a huge resemblance with called Ionia.👍👍👍😊
