Tortola plank (Balsa, tissued and dope) on frame, the keel and bulkheads from 10mm plywood. it has a small electric motor fitted but will have sails as well. Curlew from the Eezibuilt range. Material ply wood, Some of it from fruit crates.
The stand for Tortola made from 3 ply cardboard to my own design, stuck together with PVA glue.

Another car boot find I payed a total of £15.00 for this I was close to walking away from it as I have just finished doing a fire boat.
Still I had to have it to think someone else may get it and make it good. As all model boaters you can never have enough .

this is a Peter Wiles Composite Marblehead moulded in glass/ carbon fibre cloth it has a beam of 193mm with a moulded deck & raised foredeck it can take a swing or shroudless rig this one is on a swing rig 3.4kg ballast draught 620mm

Sailing at vicar water models my local club ,needed a little trimming but it sails well in most conditions

Completely scratch built using balsa wood and Mahogany strips for the decks and bridge and the free plan by James Pottinger issued in Model Boat Magazine November 1996. The plans were well drawn at a scale of 1:93 how ever I doubled the size by just transfering each measurement directly onto the wood and a few card patterns were made when panneling the hull.
Powered with twin 12 volt motors, two 12 volt lead acid batteries and two 1 3/4" props I am well sattisfied with the end result. A full build log with pictures can be found on the ''Leith built Ships" web site, or look under ''The Loftsman"

I found this at a car boot sale off a dealer I went the week before to ask how much he was asking he wanted £70 week after when I took the cash he only wanted £35 so I snatched his hand off.

Made from card then put it all on ply wood then fiber glassed .

I FOUND THIS AT A CAR BOOT SALE AND PAYED THE SELLER £8.00 CAN YOU BELIEVE IT .
It was made as a static model but that was going to change lot of work to be done it was a plank on frame .

This is a raft that one of our members Noel built from bean cans soldered together powered by a blower motor /12v 9mah battery it is a model of his fathers full size raft made from 45gallon drums powered by a car engine it was sailed off Cresswell near Newbiggin by the sea it made headlines in the local newspapers as Noel can no longer join us at the lake due to his failing health I will keep it and sail it on his behalf and use it as a rescue craft
