Back on the water today @ Crealy, at the same time as testing my 34" Fireboat ( see video ) I gave my 35th scale Vosper ASRL a run so here's a couple more photo's, this time a bit nearer completion. I'll try and upload a video of this later

Bit of fun with a video camera on my restored 1960's fireboat at my home club St. Helens MBC. had to be really carefull with the throttle and rudder sticks so the whole lot didnt end up upside down due to the camera position...

34" fireboat built 1965 restored late 2009 by me
running graupner 8.4v speed 600 on 8 cells (9.6v).

love the way the boat is in and out of shadow and sunlight throughout the video

Two restored Nor-Star boats- a Wave Princess and Wave Rider having a run at Crealy Park in Exeter.
The boats are E-Bay rescues bought back to life by Kalamunda. The video was made by Ianed57.

twin robbe direckt motors with brass 40mm prop's. 12v battery 10 a/hr.

These two boats were refurbished by Kalamunda. The first is a Lesro Sportsman and the second a NorStar Wave Rider. The Sportsman has a Graupner 700 on 8.6v and the WaveRider a brushless motor. The on board camera was arranged by Kalamunda and other video shot by Ianed57. The water is at Crealy, Exeter, the home of Exeter and District Model Boat Club.

Fishing cruiser built from kit by Dumas- no longer available I believe. Powered by Graupner Speed 500 on 7.2 volts with MTroniks 15 amp ESC. Travels at brisk walking pace so not exciting, but nice to watch. Has a big boat feel even though only two feet long.

This is the model seen in the video of Dunlin but now electric powered. Gave her a repaint which involved stripping right back to bare wood as the original finish was crazed due to a reaction. Finall got fed up with it and bit the bullet.

This boat was scratch built from Harold Underhill plans, available still from Brown,Son and Ferguson. The hull was mahogany on 6mm ply frames. The engine was a Caton from Maxwell Hemmens supplied bya gas-fired Cheddar Puffin boiler. The propeller was a two inch four bladed brass job from Rivabo I think. The displacement of the boat is 25lb- a bit of a lump to carry to the water but it does work well once in the water. She has now been converted to electric using a MFA geared 540 type motor witha 7.5ah lead acid gel cell. Looking again at this video I begin to wish I had left it as steam but there is something to be said for 'switch on and go'.
I started building the boat in the mid nineties and it has now had a repaint- it always been a favourite. This video was taken in the early noughties at Crealy in Exeter.
