Built this in early 70's . I couldn't at that time afford rc or an engine so it was a display model until around 2000.

Yes, i know what you mean. I have six boats now running of brushless motors. its all about have space, i need a bigger shed or i will start selling them which i dont want to do.
Hull hollowed out and some bits from a static display model, based on several photo's of Greek fishing boats, Fish boxes from Coffee shop stirrers, Fish from long grain rice, Crew from Pound shop (Soldiers chopped & reshaped. ) She sails fairly well on first trial at Weymouth & Portland MBC, Miles Cross Farm lake .
Spec: M'tronics Vision 400 brushed motor, M'tronics 15a ESC, 12v SLA battery, 3 blade 30mm Prop. with Led Navigation and deck lights.
Sirius was the first vessel to cross the Atlantic under steam power for the entire journey in 1847.
The model is scratch built almost entirely from wood with an plank on frame hull. She is powered by two geared electric motors on paddles. She is radio controlled by 40 Mhz Radio.
The plan was very basic as you can see from photo, but there is a model in the Liverpool Maritime museum which I was able to photograph and copy.
When completed she was purchased from me by the Beale Park, Child of Beale Trust in Reading and is still on display at that site.

Different from my usual models this is a static model in a glass case but a model boat never the less. it was made to commemorate the centenary of the foundering of the isle of Man Steam Packet vessel Ellan Vannin in the Queens Channel on the River Mersey Liverpool UK on 3rd December
1909 with the loss of all lives. The model is constructed almost entirely from scrap cardboard. She is presently on display in the Crosby Coastguard station but this is closing soon so the models fate is in the balance.
She was made to be displayed at the commemoration ceremony on board a Mersey Ferry in December 2009.
Does this one qualify? it took me almost 4 years to build this one. Scratch built from underhill plans. Parma made the fastest single journey in 1933 of 83 days in the grain races. the model is on permanent display in the Maritime Museum in Hull UK.
Launch at last of Coromandel at Cleevedon last week with the help of a passing Portishead/Cleevedon club member who steered the ship, whilst I somewhat did my best with a video camera, I will have to get in a bit more practice.
With the noise from the meccano step down gears it gave a satisfying Impression. I do not expect that it will get sailed much, as it has ended up much more of a display model than something to expose to the sort of water we have around here.
Very realistic looking on the water. What calm conditions you have, my lake usually has a steady swell washing the landing stage from the other side. 😀

Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir.This model was built from a Caldercraft Kit, This model came into my possession for the price of 20p, a raffle prize at Bryn Bach Model Clubs OPen Day 2010, when it was built is unknown. The item being made for display use and not finished off, no internal electronic fixtures. Did have a prop shaft and prop that had not been fitted correctly. 50% of all the fixtures had to be removed and refitted before they fell off, some didn't stay in place from the show back home. The model was finised off using a photo of the Milford star on the internet. The fish boxes and figures being obtained off DON one of the Society members who had a mould to make them in white metal, only required cleaning up and finishing off. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic on the water,a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The drive motor is a 550 with the lowest revs I had in MJB's this was married up to a 2.5/1 gearbox I also had in stock. The main motor and steam unit are supplied from a 7.2 volt nicad racing pack. This model has had meny fishing trips on Cwmbran Boating Lake and at shows the Society visit. Was there last year at the open day, looking forward to this years, it is allways good quality fun & frendship.The water can be brackish,but with all this rain, it will be thin, I would think. 👍 Open day 1-7-12.

Twin 540's (geared) 6V Pb Gel battery for drive. 3 Blade 50mm props (contra rotating) lights (cabin, running Ights and searchlight) on 4.5V Deacs. radar scanner and winch on same supply, radar display screen on a single AA 1.5V.
Fleet Systems radio and speed controllers, Futaba rudders servo, RCME servo driving cam/micro switch unit for lights etc.
Hi" I am very lucky to have a nice local pond at Sheringham for sailling. But it do get very busy in the summer with holiday makers during the days .But I chose to take my model up for sailling with the older boys in the long summer evenings or Sunday mornings. I occasionaly sail at the megga big lake at Eaton park Norwich. There is a club meet up there every weekend. With events on though the summer months . I talk to a lot model boat enthusiasts from all over the country so you are welcome to join us here for a sail . 🙏 APrestney
