Uses 30 amp cars ESC with small fan.
Tx set to 55% on throttle otherwise it takes off. Rudder throw at 50% for same reason. Switchable to 100% for slow speed manouvers.
Great fun.

- lesliebreameChief Petty Officer 1st Classi know what you mean about speed and i am always trying to get more from my steam boats!!! they are very slow compared with your petrol and brushless jobs but my aim is for more speed .i am working on steam turbines at present which are very inefficient and not that powerful but the intention is eventually for more speed !! you want to try coal fired boiler boats [ i make my own ] . there is much to do pondside what with stoking and water filling and oiling and all and i get loads of fun ..... much more than sailing my old electric crash tender which was fun to build but boring to sail . les breame
- BOATSHEDCaptainIt is surprising just what you can get a Crash Tender to do. They can be very fast and also handle very well on the water. Those Vosper hulls are amazing. That's why they were used for the fire tenders and MTB's etc. But then the Fairey hulls like the Huntsman and Spearfish also handle very well at speed.
- RNinMunichFleet AdmiralGreat looking boat 👍👍👍
How did you upload the video??
When I tried it it came out as an 'Invalid file' 🤔
Cheers Doug 😎
Lifeboat crewe had been on a night out so not quite vertical. Aplogies for the shaky video, it's difficult to sail and video at the same time.
- lesliebreameChief Petty Officer 1st Classvery nice boat and yes it is difficult to video and sail at the same time ! try to get someone else to steer while you video !! using a tripod is best. Les BreameLiked by Dave M
- Dave MVice AdmiralHi and welcome to the site.
If you are considering using an IC in the model I suggest you find a local club or water where you can sail. Many local authority waters prohibit IC engines.
I see you recently asked for details of a club in Torquay and note that we do have a club registered (Model Boat Clubs) as Torbay and District MBC. You could try sending a pm to one of the members registered as sailing there and ask for details.
Good looking crew!

I have not put too much scale in detail but I am quite pleased with the overall finish. it is powered by two brushless 1250KV out runners and in the first sea trials I used 12v lead acid batteries. (That video was posted a few weeks ago - mdlbt.com/26793).
This video shows its second sea trial after I was persuaded to use lipos. The difference in performance is very pleasing.
Thank you Dave M for your help and advice during the build.
- cormorantLieutenant CommanderThank you for your compliments.
This is in fact my second Perkasa. I built the first one about 40 years ago (see photo), before the introduction of the GRP hull. Losing interest in the hobby some years later, I sold the boat and have lived to regret it. (I was also the proud owner of a 37" Aerokits Crash Tender powered by a Frog 2.49cc diesel. That went the same way!)
The first boat was quite lively powered by a Merco 61 i/c engine.
No pictures of either I'm afraid.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
