- jbkiwiFleet AdmiralThought about that Martin, as I have plenty of aircraft ones here. Rods are a bit rough as they are not attached to anything on the other side, (just trying the movement)would need to be set to run smoothly,- rods could also be curved to run better. One good advantage of flexible cables is no rust/or need for oil😀. Only thing is, they would be very short and by the time you fit clevises they might only be an inch long! Worth investigating though, once I figure out how to mount the servos. Thought about running long cables from mid hull, but I need to have an engine box at the back as short as poss and they might not curve enough.

Modification of a standard 26" jet boat unit
Quick vid showing operation of steering and reversing bucket. Steering nozzle reduced in diam and made from a brass reducer, and reversing bucket moulded from f/glass with brass pivot and lever inserts.

- mturpin013AdmiralJust an observation when the jet is pointing rear then left a right appear to be sending water L & R but when the rear cup is dropped in place does L & R get reversed due to the curvature of the cup ?
- jbkiwiFleet AdmiralHi Mike, the bucket has a divider in the center, so when the bucket is down and the nozzle is pointing either side, the water is diverted out that side (at least in real life😀) ie. nozzle points right, water comes out right,- (pushing stern left) nozzle straight ahead,- braking, - nozzle partially up, neutral (in a full size boat, jet runs all the time with motor,-no real need for this with electric. Bucket will be on a TX rotary sw to allow easy positioning (or perhaps on a 2 pos sw).
Will no doubt need to make some mods once in the water as this is experimental (don't think I'll fluke it first time) ie, may need the bucket to go down further (cup more) nozzle bottoms closed in etc. Fun playing though😁

- jbkiwiFleet AdmiralLooks great!, I think it looks more scale like with a bit of roll, just like a full size displacement hull. As long as it's ballasted so it won't roll over it will be fine.

MP4 is supported if it's not to large BW,
It may appear as an 'Invalid File' but will still work.
It will be renamed an .mpg4 file but still work on a WIN 10 PC and Media Player.
What happens when you try to upload it?

Steam Yacht Minnow
I finally managed to get out and do a video of SY Minnow. This was taken at Cheddar Steam Club and Jane and I were the only people there so had the water to ourselves. I have increased the displacement a little which has made her more stable in the wind. Although it doesn't look it, there was quite a breeze that day and you can see the boat heeling to the wind on occasions. I was very pleased with the mist unit as this was the first time I have seen it operate properly. I will do something about the masts being out of alignment!

It was good to get up to Cheddar and have a peaceful sail and capture the day on video. I've had this old Bugsier for a few years now and finally got it the way I want it. I dug out an old copy of MB from 1976 and noticed Bugsier was being advertised then, I don't know when Graupner introduced it, it would be interesting to know.

Motor Tug Seahorse
While I'm at it I have put up this video of my tug. I had been having problems with this and I completely replaced everything inside. Turns out the rudder servo was dodgy and the motor, a geared 500 was far too poky. It now performs beautifully and very quietly. Obviously it's an old Graupner Bugsier but refurbished by me to look a bit more like a British tug. The motor is a low noise 500 with direct drive mounted on a rubber sheet - the only noise is a whine from the esc.
