HI this was my winter project the hull was given to me by my son who got it at a car boot sale it had been on fire as it was driven by a petrol engine in now has twin brushless motors with 45mm props but going to put 50mm props on when they come as it needs a little bit more speed Built from a set of plans this my first go at this as I build from kits in the past cabins made out of 3mm/1.5m ply and some 1.5mm balsa wood . Hull was sprayed and the deck and cabins brushed with enamel paint.

I have to disagree when you say that brushless motors are power hungry I have one more boat on a brushless and get a longer run than with brush motors a lot of members in our club use brushless with good results

I agree brushless give excellent results and will outperform brushed motors any day, provided they are set up correctly.
Power hungry was possibly a poor use of words. My point was that brushless electronics can and do draw very heavy currents which LiPo's are able to supply, and are very light weight.
We use brushless on many model at my club and for performance and endurance they can't be beaten. 👍 😀

💀 Hello friends, I am sharing a kit that sells here in Brazil. This is a fishing boat, a motor included in the kit 380 brushed, propeller shaft, pipes, all made of balsa. To put my touch to the lighting, did the radio antenna, put some flags. Detail is left with the box of fish that are rice painted with spray paint aluminum.

1/12th scale Guard lifeboat still not finished still havent painted the cockpit thats why the blue window but just couldnt wait to see it on the water. Powered by twin Pittman motors it has six low profile 12v batteries mounted below the waterline to aid in its self righting.

Hello from Australia Thought it was time I made a an effort. Three of my models shown here at last years local model show in Port Macquarie. L to R they are Cervia, now 20 years old,Wyola, an Australian built tug.Twin motors and Kort nozzles.and Old Trafford, MSC paddle tuc in 1/35 scale. All are totally scratch built. The only things bought were materials, paint and glue, Except the stantions for Old Trafford. Currenly finishing a Maycraft Mercury(started in 1962 in England) and a Vosper fireboat.Hope this may be of interest

Yes, those models look to be reasonably original. interestingly, there was only one hatch - the one at the stern. When I complete my long-mothballed Sea Hornet, I'll probably make up a second hatch to cover the engine compartment.
How's your progress?
Tim.

Yes you'd be right to put a hatch behind first row of seats, that's where motor access hatch was originally, not second row seats as in your model. it original only had two set of bench seats, each behind their own window screens.
Cannot remember what happened to my "Hornet", maybe it went the same way as my CorgI and Dingy toy car, kindly given away by my Mother in my teens, whilst I was in the RAF, thought I finished with them, women they don't understand us fellows :-)
I've just launched my latest model a RAF Fire Launch pictures on this site, still some way to go, fire monitors etc, turned out to be very responsive and quick, once fitted 50amp controller and tweaked blades.

These pictures are of three of the NEWCASTLE rtr tugs that we have in our club, they have all had minor modifications and a re paint but all have the original motors but run on 12 volts.

This little tug is a NEWCASTLE ready to run model that has been modified and repainted and is running on 12volts, if anybody has one they are a remarkable thing, almost unsinkable,in the pictures I was doing my best to see how stable she is, as you can see. The answer is very.

In 1963/64 my father built a 34" Fireboat for me. Being only about 12 the job was a little above my knowledge or expertise. Another chap in my class at school had the same boat but rigged as a Fireboat. So I wanted something different. My boat was painted Red.White and Black. When I migrated to Australia I sold the boat about 1970.Earlier this year I had an article published in a Melbourne newspaper saying I was looking to repurchase the boat I had sold 40 years ago. Although I was unable to get my boat, someone had a fireboat that had been sitting around for years. After purchasing the boat, I restored it to the same colours etc that I had had 40 years ago. Thereby naming it Phoenix.

This is a 40" long model of a gas powered Berkley Company kit of a US Air Force crash boat from 1955. The plank on frame kit was in production for about 10 years and was meant to be powered by a model airplane gas motor with a single shaft. it depicts an experimental 50 knot rescue boat (painted in a peace time color scheme) during service with the USAF. if successfull it would have been put into production designed to be a replacement rescue craft for all Air Force 65' crash boats. Unfortunately for the crash boat program the Air Force lost interest as helicopters were become a reliable way of rescueing downed pilots along the coast. The prototype and a sister boat were scrapped, as was the entire program.
The model was given to me to be restored(top picture) for the son of a retired USAF veteran that was a crash boat crewman. The model was built in 1957 and had been run a few times on a tether line, R/C was pretty expensive back in the day. I stripped the hull, filled in all the cracks and rebuilt the mast. I added a small boat, davit, liferaft, coxswain station, spray shield and deck hardware among other things. Actually all the owner wanted was a paint job, he was very happy with it's new appearencep! Although I fiberglassed the wooden hull and made it watertight, the owner doesn't plan to run it, just a memorial to his dad's service. I really enjoyed working on this "rare bird".

Got this one off ebay, had to use a little artistic licence with the paint scheme as club has several members with same scheme, so didnt want to look the same. The one thing I could not get over was how many parts were left over from the revell kit. Have a 380 motor in it with a msoniks 15 amp esc, could not get over how much ballast was needed to get her to sit in water true, but got there in the end. Now working on making homemade smoke generator to go in funnel, first tests great using nichrome wire and 6v battery, just have to make housing to go in funnel. Have tested parker black ink mixed in smoker fluid and effect looks fantastic.

hI grandadave, if you are talking about the prop going forwards and backwards, then it is the speed controller that handles that. I just put a mtroniks 15amp esc in it and that handles the forwards and backwards no problem. After that it is sorting out the transmitter or just get a cheapy car one off ebay as they have forwards and backwards on them. regards steve

Finally managed to get a fellow club member to take some video for me.
This is a hobby King Tunnel hull boat, running a brushless motor and 11.1v 3 cell.
The weather was a bit windy, hence the rough sound, the water too was slightly choppy, any worse and I would of not run the boat, too risky flipping the hull over !
The boat itself was yet another ebay "rescue" item, sold by "cash converters", all I say it was a great pity the previous owner could not afford to keep it, its a fantastic piece of kit, and so, so much fun to handle. he also did a superb job of applying a different set of decals and repainting it, so thmbs up to this guy, hope that some day he finds this site and the video clip.
Your boat is still being appreciated and being run "as it should be - full throttle"

Its an exciting "ride", full throttle is not for the faint hearted [ha ha]. its a total difference to my normal sailing modes, as Im more used to "scale sailing", so being let loose occaisionally can be fun too. I think everyone should have one, a fast boat that is, purely just for the adrenaline rush you get.

1965 U.S. Lindberg Plastic Special Edition John F Kennedy P T 109 Boat. The P T 109 boat was mainly employed around the islands surrounding the Philippines, hence the reason why the boat was painted to match the background colours of these islands. Bought in a part built state and took me, with help and advice from other model boat guys, about 12 months to get it up and running. Powered by twin motors, shafts & props, with a single 8 cell 9.6 volt battery.

Hello:
I've got a scale model of the pt-109, lindberg and want to build it as soon as possible.
Thank you for these photos... very well achieved the warlike atmosphere of the period.
Soon I'll post pictures of the work.

Power hungry was possibly a poor use of words. My point was that brushless electronics can and do draw very heavy currents which LiPo's are able to supply, and are very light weight.
We use brushless on many model at my club and for performance and endurance they can't be beaten. 👍 😀
