Well, I just ordered two MFA Motors from Cornwall Model Boats believe it or not it's actually cheaper for me to order from across the pond, than to purchase locally here in the States. I decided to go with the 2.5:1 Gear Ratio @ 6 Volts which = 6180 RPM's at max efficiency per Motor. Hopefully this is enough to power the model. The Model is going to weigh in at 21 lbs when it's totally completed!
Next thing to get are the two ESC's, I've chosen the Mtroniks Viper Marine Plug-N-Play and one Mtroniks Mixer water proof of course.
I Should have the boat in the water by Mid-November just for testing! if not bathtub trials will have to do!

Well I was able to order my V-Tail mixer which I'm going to use in the San Pedro Push Boat.
I was actually lucky to find it for about $20.00 versus the $69.00, I saw it for on a Website from the west coast!
It's a considerable amount of savings considering it's coming from the U.K. I mean the distance!
Next are the ESC's which I have decided to get the Mtroniks Plug-N-Play 15 Amps. Oh, shipping was about $2.51 not bad for the distance.

OK, Today I received my MFA motors, I have temperately placed them on their motor mounts.
As you can see there are no wires coming off of them, but that's OK because for what they cost
I don't mind having to solder the wires on them.
Next step are the ESC's placed order today.
Oh, I received the mixer and wouldn't you know it, it's the wrong one so had to send the mixer
back to CMB to get the right one sent out. Going to have to keep the mixer it cost to much to send back.

OK, I've finished the engine room.
each motor is independently powered and has it's own ESC.
I have positioned the Receiver above the waterline, so their is less possibility of RF interference.
unfortunately my engine room turned out like spaghetti's, but everything works OK.

I tried different Mixers unfortunately they were the wrong kind of mixers, after doing some research I now know I need an Action Electronics Mixer!
it's a costly component I must say, I guess I'll be getting it by next spring just in time to do a Maiden Voyage.

I do not think you got the wrong V-tail mixer, you just need it put to wiring and properly involve.
Therefore, I do not use internal mix at transmitter, and even and cannot program it ( therefore, I chose a simple mixer - it performed only simple mixing of signals, in my case Ail and Throttle , no damned programming!!)
when connecting of engines because you have to program the transmitter to function properly. (Thr forward - backward) and canal -1 ("Ailerons" - adjust the direction of rotation so that when tilting the control stick left, right engine had more speed than the left engine, and vice versa)
I have on Lulonga the rudder separately on channel 4 (on my model has a lousy efficiency), but it can be connected via a Y cable to output Ail, where one branch goes to the servo, the second branch to the V-tail mixer, or you can engage Mix, which lead the canal 1 Ail, a slave can 4 - Rudder - wants this just to try.
Of course you can try a mix of programming of the transmitter, but I wanted first and foremost a simple electrical connection that works.
Then, if you know how that works, then it is easier to try and programming of the transmitter. This I then used my second model, Thames sailing barge Capricorn
At the end of this album I gave examples of wiring and mixes too. I made a simple table, and then tried what and how it works. But it is a control model sailboats. For your model table would look different. it depends on what type of transmitter you have.
wishing success ! Tom
I'm waiting patiently until the spring thaw, To put my San Pedro in the water.
Time to start building her Barge, but that's another blog.

The one you have what are it's dimensions, See my tug Serenity is 36" x 7.1/2" and the San Pedro is 30" x 12"
Is it big enough for them? also where did you get it from?
Hi Ed, my truck is 36" x 18" with a 10" gap over the rear and front rails, my 40" Amsterdam and my 56" Maersk Logger fit with the stearn sticking out. I bought it from ebay, look for folding garden truck. if not available from the states, try ebay uk and contact some of the sellers for the shipping price
I never glued the superstructure of the San Pedro together.
I was waiting to see if I could find a thick glue.
This I found in the Cornwall Model Boats website, it took about a week and a half to get to me. Now all I have to do is glue the San Pedro superstructure together.
First lets experiment and see how the glue works. Well I took a piece of 1/8" ply one drop of glue did it. it was glued instantly instead of the ply just absorbing the glue. the glue was thick enough were it glued the pieces together, Success...
I also tried it on plastic, with great success also...

It only cost me £2.02 to post from Cornwall Model Boats.
That's not much considering, if I were to go to my local hobby shop it would cost me about £6.00 just to go. and I would have to travel one hour in one direction. So I actually don't mind waiting or paying a little bit of post for my supplies. and it just takes about a week and a half turn around time. I have looked in my local Walmart but didn't find the right stuff. I had been waiting over two months to find the right glue and I did just that.
The wait time paid off, Patients is a virtue!👍
Well along with having glued my superstructure together.
I was able to glue in place, all the life rings I had from a previous build.

OK, I've received my three crewmen from C.M.B. after about a week of time. They are finally here and glued in place! I think I'll order five or six more just to put around the boat! Three crewmen just doesn't do it.

Thanks Dave,
your link works like my link works I'm not sure why I get such a long link!
I'm going to reprogram my Icon for C.M.B. also if any one ask I'll give them the shortened version of the C.M.B. figures at the website URL....
I have a funny feeling I get the long URL because I'm in the US. has to be I don't know!
