Thanks to all those that made suggestions about making the Suction Hoses, here are my efforts. The boat looks OK now thought there is much to do still. I am using two Johnson drill motors in paralell with one 50 amp ESC & 20A fuses in each motor + supply lead, all running on 8.4V NiMhi. the current props are 40 X 21 three blade. The boat is fast enough but battery life is short and the battery is very hot after the end of the run. I water cooled the motors and ESC. I will try some smaller props and 7,2V to see if there is an Improvement.

I don't think the mag article is the whole story though as I have seen a photo of No. 2757 with a flat engine room hatch! I started building the hull in 1958 and now I have retired I hope to finish it, but it has taken me 2 years to find the plans again! Regards John
Boat is a wood kit built in the 1960 by a friend,built and stored in a shed.needs alot of TLC,doing my best to make it fit for the lake ,have rebuilt all of the superstructure.Was powerd by a lead acid battery/500 motor .Now powerd by a GP.7.2vNiCd 2000 Mah.And a cheap 50amp controller bought from Hong Kong on Ebay.Needs a lot more work to be done and been testing it at Newbrighton wirral.Thanks for watching.Gerry
This is the first radio controlled model I have attempted.
It was purchased weekly (80 weeks) when I was living in Spain. Only problem was that all the text and instructions were in spanish and my understanding of spanish was severely limited!!!!!!!.
But with a translation program on my PC I was able to complete the model.
As I said this is my first excursion into wooden modelling, although I am proficient in plastic modelling, especially aircraft.
As a first model I am somewhat proud of the completed model, although it is yet to be christened on the water.
Since completing this I have built a Royal Navy Frigate circa 1799, sadly I was unable to transport it back to the UK. it is awaiting my return to Spain.
at the start of my interest in boats I thought of fire boats, RNLI type of sailing but the detial on some of the tugs are amazing!! giving it some thought at the moment what to get into 😎

I thought that my recently finished MTB may be of interest.
It consists of 49" GRP hull ply deck / superstructure. The fittings are from a mixture of ABS and metal, to give a good surface for spray painted finish.
The drive consists of twin 850 motors and twin 50mm brass props, controlled by a JetI Navy 600 on 10 cells, this setup gives excellent scale planing, but with 14 cells the performance is outstanding. I use 4600 capacity and only select the top power run in short bursts, which gives me around 20 minutes duration on one charge.
radio is 2,4 ghz so no bother waiting for a free freq.

Hi. I have just posted asking about the Precedent Perkasa kit. is that what you have built here? What did you think of the kit? Do you think smaller motors might still give planing performance and give longer battery life? I am about to opt for a kit to build and would be grateful for any info to help me choose the right one. You have certainly done a nice job of the build and it tempts me to choose this one

I can't take credit for the building this Deans Marine kit, my father did that some 15 years ago but as a static model. When he passed away the ship came to me and a few months ago I decided to make it seaworthy.
She used a standard MabuchI 540RS motor geared down using two 6v lead acid batteries - and runs for hours !
The pictures were taken at Peterborough Area Model Boat Club during our Sunday meet. I'm thrilled with it, very realistic at over four feet long, smooth and very manoeuvrable - Dad would have loved it :-))

HI All,here,s a piccy of a recent gathering one sunny sunday afternoon at Gang Werily Fawley Hants.These are all electric powered models all original aerokits with the one closest has all original fittings only missing a few minor items but still goes well for an old girl.we have 93,94 and unumbered yet all 35" models.these are a regular sight at gang werily pond

I like the design of your motor cooling, what tubing did you use to wrap around the motors?
