Chief Petty Officer 1st Class
SARNIA
In contrast to all that amazing power stuff below here is a very tranquil and sedate picture of my A class yacht in light breeze at Ilfracombe pond recently. Les Breame

Wonderful 👍 How about some musical underlay - 'I am sailing' Rod Stewart ?? 😉
Ah! Ilfracombe, lovely country. Used to pop down there from Weston Supermare in my youth.

The boat does not win races without a good skipper! You must be a good team 👍

I've been building this Billings kit for some years now. [laid the keel in 2007 !!] but I'm slowly getting there. I've just recently joined this Website so not sure if this is the correct place to post some pictures of this build plus a yacht and steam launch. I'll start here anyway and no doubt someone will advise me for future postings.

    Hi sandkb
Looking good. if you are intending to post build updates and ask for help I suggest you go to Build Blogs and start your own blog. You can then keep adding to the blog when you have progressed with the build. it not only helps inspire others, but may result in others sharing their own experiences with similar builds.
Good luck with the build and if you like my post please tick the like box.

Pilot Boat
Recently built from an Aeronaut kit, this is a 1/24th scale Pilot Boat based on a German design. Powered by two 540 brushed motors with 3 bladed brass props it attains something like scale speed. The colour is Volkswagen Bright Orange, courtesy of Halfords and the non-slip deck is acrylic green mixed with silver sand then covered with a silk finish varnish.
The boat was filmed at an illuminated regatta staged by Bournville Model Yacht and Power Boat Club on their lake in Bournville, Birmingham

    Hi Colin
Yes, I did brush paint the deck with an inexpensive acrylic.
The sand mix was trial and error. I started off with a thin mix and gradually added more sand, testing it on scraps of plastic, until I was happy.
A brushed coat of satin varnish waterproofed and added to the realism.
    Best of luck.
