Here are a couple pictures of my 1957 SS AMERICAN SCOUT C2 Merchantman. powered with a dumas 6 volt superpanther electricmotor, For RC opperation the ship is radioed by a 1960 babcock citizenship tube radio atae of the art at that time nowdays it is a relic or dinosour. BUtttttttt it still works. I am going to take her out for thefirst time underway sail scince 1960 I will update this post with pictures of her underway. But here are a couple stil pictures of her. Bought this kit from Cornwall models ,great fun to build and fairly easy ..At the moment I am in the process of motorising all the move-able parts,Crane rotate and lift lower,Thruster and lighting..My mate from work is a spark and shows me how "to do it " electrically or Im lost.The relay is home made and powers the Bow Thrusters if anyone wants to make one of their own I have a few better pictures to show the wiring in detail . Most will know of this site but if not you can get some excellent items for your ship builds with a good quick service my home made relays switches etc come from here

I took advantage of some nice weather to take my Wavemaster out for a spin this afternoon. She's around 58 years old, I bought her from the son of the original builder and have tried to keep it as original as possible so converted from IC to electric, repainted the lower hull, new stainless inner propshaft, made some handrails and fitted the lights. it was very dirty but has cleaned up a treat. I'm running a Darke Horse 700 with a 7.2v 4300Ah battery for these pictures but have the facility to use either one or two sticks, run time today over 30min with some to spare so I'm well pleased! it's a gorgeous classic boat.

Here is my take on a torpedo boat, YES I know why has it got a rocket launcher on rear, well I wanted something that was different from the rest with my own signature on it. it is powered by a .60 size electric motor 120amp esc, two 5000 3 series lipos. Only allowed to have it going on 1/4 power cause of speeed limit on lake. The hull was originally a 48" deep vee hull but added perkasa superstructure to it.

This is the latest of my builds a french deep sea trawler LE ZENITH .We renamed this model in memory of our daughter who sadly passed away two years ago breaking many hearts.
The ship was a delight to build but has still some electrics to complete..This is my weak point having blown up two speed controllers previously through my inexperience.I have just my speed control to wire and we are ready for a test run when the weather is a bit kinder

Original 1960s boat aquired this summer from the family a deceased former club member in scruffy, non running but basically sound condition. Was petrol powered at some stage and still had original vintage mechanical speed controller from a later electric power set up. Restored with two (secondhand) MFA850 motors in tandem driving a new single 20 in M5 shaft. . Using a 50 Amp Tornado speed control and plastic X55 Graupner prop.

Sprayed (Volvo) Flash Green Metallic with orginal decks stripped back and restained (using tea bags!) and relaquered

First outing in 51 years for my 1/16th scale Seaplane tender, built originally by my father in 1953 and believed to be an Adamcraft Kit, found with a damaged hull and virtually no superstructure in the loft of their house after my mother had moved to a residential home several years ago. I had moved to Lyme Regis in Dorset where several of these craft were based and which was my fathers inspiration for building this initially, so I thought it time to try and restore her.
I had some difficulty finding plans of the ST and eventually bought and built the Deans Marine 1/24th version of this craft, which I then scaled up to rebuild the original.
Power is by a 600 motor with 2 channel radio and seems to work
well on a 7.2 v battery pack.
I've now joined Exeter & District MBC as it appears to be one of the nearest to us in Lyme and the pics show the ST on the Dragonfly Lake at Crealy.
I would be interested in any info. anyone might have as to Adamcraft as my searches have turned up very little. I believe they specified a Tacol electric or Mills 1.3 petrol engine at the time, but my memory might well be flawed as I was only around 10years old at the time.

here is a few pictures underway and display of my 1978 issue Lindberg PT-109. I had this old boat for 32 years for power nothing to get excited about. not to much into speed but she goes fast enought not enough to raise the bow out of the water. I didn,t use the kit motor it was to much of a toy its design was primarley used for pool opperation. there for I replaced it with dumas 6 volt electric motor useing the kits reduction gearbox they give you. at the time of the build I had no forsight discard it, perhaps in the near future Iwill scuttle it and use 2 direct 6 volt motors the gear reduction slows down the speed pretty much if you use scale speed it is good for cruiseing at 6 knotts. the gear reduction has been coated with grifite grease as long as I had this old relic there are no wear on the gear teeth so she is good to go untill I decide to scuttle this old gear box. I built this kit in early 1977 while stationed at RAAF Amberley in Queensland. it originally was engined with an Enya 35 and at some time later ended up fitted with an OS40.
It travelled around Australia with me and ended up in Perth where it has been stored in my shed for approx the last 20 years - I now have the time to restore it and and do a conversion to electric drive.
Can anyone please advise as to electric motor and speed control that I should be looking at and where I might be able to purchase a fittings kit.

My old FROG tender with a PBY

Tender about 40 years old , now powered by electric
(6 volt) ..PBY found on ebay and could no believe it was the same scale (1/24)

I have rebuilt this from a damaged ex IC model. Borrowed a plan from a club member and managed to reconstruct the missing bits. Originally used a fast electric car type brush motor with 7.2 v nicads. Worked ok but nothing spectacular. Recently ventured into brushless and LiPo. Tried an inrunner but ran far to hot and not veryt fast. Changed to an Outrunner (mork torky apparently) and nearly took off! (it is a seaplane tender but should stay on the water!) The LiPo is 11.1v 2800MaH. I use a Graupner Ultramat 16 charger, don't use other than a dedicated LiPo charger and ESC. Battery misuse can result in pyrotechnics, so beware. initialyy tried a two blade racing prop but have changed this to a 29mm 3 blade brass prop to slow down the speed. I have also added more lead and will advise the final weight once I have tried the model on water. I sail with Crewe and District MBC at Boundary Park, Nr Knutsford in Cheshire.

success !! I have done it " my photos of my two boats . the one on the water is the 94 fireboat fitted with a 500 torpedo electric motor and a spectrum rx/tx works very well !! . The other is crash tender 93 under going a rebuild after being rescued on ebay . from a new member A prestney.
