- Colin HFleet AdmiralThat's really encouraging to know that youngsters are enjoying the hobby. Hopefully teaching them water safety as well. I'm for ever falling in when retrieving my models. Family think it's hilarious but it can be dangerous, so I try to stay dry nowadays. That's really encouraging to know that youngsters are enjoying the hobby. Cheers Colin.Liked by MouldBuilder and pressonreguardless and - SkippydrewChief Petty Officer 2nd ClassYes Colin I do try and teach them to behave accordingly around water, even more so because I can’t swim. That wouldn’t deter me from jumping in after them tho haha. Yes they are pretty good I just say. I’ve fallen in a couple of times, just as well it’s shallow ish around one edge.Yes Colin I do try and teach them to behave accordingly around water, even more so because I can’t swim. This model yacht is a first "scratch" built RC yacht belonging to "full size" sailor Chris Gay.
Naiad is seen here undergoing her maiden voyage at the Pavilion Gardens Buxton in the company of Grahams - "ELLEN" the Bristol Cutter.

- NerysFleet Admiral'Naiad' is an interesting concept of a very traditional design. I like her lines and it's good to see a good old gaff rigged boat being built today.'Naiad' is an interesting concept of a very traditional design. We have two ponds to run our boats in.The Sailors run in the big pond and the scale members run in the smaller pond.Attached are a few photos of the day.I must mention that the first picture is a new construction of a Marblehead out for a test run.The Canadian Coast Guard Ice breaker is totally scratch built with working radar and lights. This member works on his kitchen table. We found out later that he was born on a kitchen table.
Drop keel and rudder extension added when sailing. I was intrigued to discover that the deck winch was steam powered,no doubt to help with taking in the trawl net.
- Joe727CommanderHello,Hello, Just spotted your boat, I love the gaff-rigged working craft. Built one, a Falmouth fishing boat, and I plan to do more. Your boat is very impressive, nice quality workmanship and attention to detail. If you don't mind I am curious about a couple of things. is it plank on plank? Did you fiberglass over the hull or just paint. What kind of wood do you use for planking. I to, work from old drawings plans with lines and offsets. Great work! Regards, Joe

Subsequent models of Wherries and Chinese Junks were plank on frame using 1/8” balsa strips sealed with resin, varnish inside and out, with again acrylic paint. Balsa easier to work with to gain experience - reasonable effectiveness both in carvel and clinker planking. All the best and good sailing. Gascoigne

bits and pieces of deck fittings to be placed. New phot shows where we are. The partial print showing below is a painting of HMS Caroline in dry dock. Spent fives years in the RNR here in Belfast on board her.
- 236674Able SeamanHi I live in the Melbourne area and have sailed in Port Philip many times, have seen the hull of HMVS Cerberus, it really is a sorry sight. Your model is fantastic, I thank you for giving me some idea of how she looked in her Hayday. 😊Hi I live in the Melbourne area and have sailed in Port Philip many times, have seen the hull of HMVS Cerberus, it really is a sorry sight.
