The response that I got for pictures of Miami Crash Boats was fantastic. The Titan Tug that I am building is the result of a link I was sent to EBay.

This site has helped me know end with a wealth of knowledge from everyone who can help I’ve been sailing yachts and model boats now for nearly half my life more recently as my health had taken me out of work since 2015 so it’s been a great uplift to be able to sail whether it be motor or wind powered boats health permitting or whether , but only being on this site for a few weeks found some great help and others kind enough to help out when someone in need ,manny thanks to the ones who have helped and know doubt in the future if I get stuck

I am new to boating. I have been RC modelling for 40+ years and always been a Forum member somewhere. These places are a bottomless font of information.

  Hört sich gut an. Ich glaube wenn ich einen Text auf Deutsch schreibe, wird er automatisch in Englisch übersetzt, zumindest bei mir auf dem Handy. Dann wird doch der Build Blog auch automatisch ins Englische übersetzt oder sehe ich da was falsch ?

  Hi all further to my comment 6 months ago. My friend Guy never made his 104th. birthday, He died just a few weeks short of 19th. June. Not sad at all, as he had enjoyed a good life and he told me he was ready to go anyway.
  
  We had a planned party for him at the Model engineering society, but we decided to carry on with the day and remember Guy. Some of his ashes were sprinkled over the outside Gauge 1 track he had contributed to. Nice idea and I shall pass by him every time I visit. (He did build a couple of boats as well)!
  
  Like many of us, not in anyway famous just one of those that keeps the world ticking over and working. This is the bit the vociferous amongst the population forget, but someone has to keep the lights on.

Where can I find the plans of a Cherokee class brig sloop of HMS Woodlark (90' x 24'7") with took part in the American War of Independance. Hopefully to build a model about 12" long 1/90 scale. My 3 times great-grandfather was in command of her during that time.

At that time we still rented the sailboat, today they are the proud owners of an Alubat Ovni 445!
Apartment dissolved and now live on this boat as long as health permits . . .and we friends are always welcome! This is real friendship

  With sending this pictures you open old wounds… i havé been sailing for over 20 years with 2 friends on a 43 foot Halberg Rassy. Never ever we had à quarel. That’s what friendship between men is all about. Nothing nicer than sailng👍👍👍

  I did not want to, but it will probably be one of the last sailing trips, since my wife prefers to travel with the camper and likes to have dry land under his feet. 😐😐😐

  When I see the pictures of the sailing yacht my heart ❤️ Starts bleeding!!we have been sailing with 3 men every weekendvand 3 weeks in summertime on a Halberg Rassy 43 foot. Never had a quarrel . Due to age we had to sell the yacht. 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

Is there anyone on here from not so sunny Scotland 😅🙈. Haven been a member here for quite some time now it is the go to for ideas and sound knowledge when stuck with builds or anything boat related. Always a friendly reply and fact based ideas, advice and all other subjects.

I have looked to see who from Switzerland is participating in this forum.
Disappointing, some have stayed on as recruits, 2 are current but have not responded to my request.
It would be cool to meet someone from the forum in our own little country.

I have only been a member of this site for a couple of months now, and I have never come across such a wide mix of people and skills, who are so friendly, with never a bad word said. The support and friendliness is quite brilliant in this day and age, when half the world is either fighting or arguing. Long may this frindliness and worldwide harmony continue.

Ah, you young guys bragging about being 74, etc.

I mention age because I find it very relaxing working on my boats, from research to finally in the water and all that good stuff in between. Yeah, there can be some frustrating times but overall I think this is a good hobby for "staying young" - we have a few members well into their 80's. (This is Florida where a lot of people move to when they retire.)

I've been living here for 59 years and 50 of those years have passed since I scratch built my first RC sale model boat, a 42 inch long tug boat.

I am happy to be a part of this forum and read just about every post. So, 😉WELCOME ABOARD😉!

  Hi, yes it is a thinking hobby, solving problems and assembling the drive train has many options and I include sails here as well and then deciding what is a reasonable spend and also to utilise what you have to hand.
  
  Much of the thinking that goes into models is unnoticed by others but is the main reason for the building.
  When I start a new model I start with a new page in my 'Notes on Boats' diary. Dates are important as well. I do a fanciful list of what I would like to have in the model, some things look impossible but then a few weeks later a possible solution pops into your head.
  Everything gets listed including the build order and ticked off or crossed out as it all progresses.
  
  Over the Covid period I often wonder if the now woke term BC could now be repurposed as Before Covid and 'the now' can be PC as in Post Covid.
  Sorry side tracked. I believe sales of kits increased during lockdown but from here it is difficult to detect many new members coming into our area of interest.
  Model railway sales increased by 20% in UK did the same happen in USA?
  
  Anyway age was mentioned. On Friday afternoons I go over to see a long term friend he is mostly blind but otherwise active looking after himself with a little help. He is working on a Gauge 1 simple electric loco using his engineering workshop.
  
  He should make his next birthday in June 2023 when he will be 104 years old. At my age of 84 going on 85 I feel a mere stripling!

  I don't know much about the model railroad sales here in the US. Here in Florida most homes do not have basements. Also with mild winters (tee short and shorts today) there's no need to go into hibernation and work on a hobby in a warm area of one's home.
  Last year another hobby shop locally bit the dust. We now have two hobby shops serving about one million people in Pinellas County.
