Really fine looking model. The detail really adds to the finished model.
Glad to hear you have chosen to go for smaller motors and props. The weight saving will really have improved the performance, and LiPos will make it sparkle. if your ESC(s) do not have some sort of cut off for low volts I suggest you fit a warning device to the LiPo to prevent over discharge.

Sadly although my ESC's (tamiya TBLE02's) are Lipo compatible research says their cut off limit may be too low so fitting the alarms too as a fail safe.

OK thanks Paul, I' building "Dauntless" 49" Twin .46 ASP marine Nitro. Everyone says it is way over powered but they have no idea that Rothchild liked to drive his flat out at 50mph---scale speed would not look very fast at all but according to Dumas they put K&B .40's in the first one off the production line and it looked wonderful. 😊
Here in Tasmania we are less fortunate with hobby shops so we are always on the look out for a "Fixerupper"

as I have already answered a similar question on paddleducks, splush the sound of blades, hiss sound is generated electronically steam unit, connected in series with ESC engines (another Lulonga model page 4 there)

Its in my diary, I may well bring HMS Montrose my Type 23 along.

HI Martin. I would love to see that as I'm finishing a 1/72 scale one. I brought a 70% built Hms Marlborough but converting to an RN one,thinking either Kent,Lancaster or Somerset. I've had to do a couple of mods like changing the Vickers to a kryton version etc. it was mostly tugs n trawlers when I joined but there's more grey funnel stuff now and a few subs as well including my Trafalgar class so it's worth coming down.

I think the sound is a bearing probably the motor, could be the shaft, definitely no need to increase power, sails very well

Motor has been left insitu, Prop shaft found to be vibrating and has now been fixed. Hull stripped back to bare wood and repainted in camoflage. Spray rails fixed to the hull have made a big difference to stability. Not on the original Aerokits drawings. Can now concentrate on Deans Cossack. Plenty of sheet lead for stability but looks good.

😊 I like the model and the motor. Fondly remember Taycol motors in the 1960s. I had an Asteroid in a Veron Viceroy and cost a fortune in dry batteries though it was very enjoyable,

I remember the Basset Lowke ready to sail boats which I later found that the same models had been produced in the 1930s. Both models were 39 inches long and one of them ,Streamlinia was steam powered launch with a funnel to the aft of the main cabin and the other was a similar sized launch with a different superstructure and electric power.

I must say that Margaret is a masterpiece with traditional quality and detail and a power unit to match.

Does anyone know if Basset Lowke are still in business?

The last time I saw their name advertised was over 10 years ago when I saw a couple of new O gauge steam locomotives in a model shop
