IC 16M is a swedish 15.9m. Aluminum Coast Guard Boat driven by 2 800HP Jet'Drives. Max. Speed 50 Knots. Builder: Dockstavarvet.
Model constructed of all glued ABS 1.524mm (0.060") sheets. Deck details under construction.
Powered with two 28mm. Kehrer Jet Drives. 2 Swang Hobby 1200 KV brushless motors 2 90A Seaking ESC 5S / 18.5V - 25C -5000 maH LiPo Hyperion Battery.
Weight included 1 Bat 4300 gr.
Running at Mazenod Road Pond, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Oct 19th -2014

Wannabe Police Launch
My own design deep "V" hull with upper-works loosely to 1:15 scale replica of the Mitchell 31 boats previously used by various Hampshire constabularies in and around the Solent. The intention is to fit this model with a working, rotating, radar scanner using the servo motor and gearbox from an old video camera lens system; working lights including flashing blue police lights and a sound-alike "wee-wah" siren - just for the hell of it (and because I can)! Technical details: Hull length: 867mm. Construction: GRP layup with 1.5 and 3mm ply and balsa deck, cabin etc. Motor: MFA Torpedo 850. Propeller: X50mm plastic. Battery: 2 x three cell LiPo pack in parallel. Speed controller: Mtroniks Viper 25Amp. Radio: Hobby King 2.4GHz.

    My son says this is way off a replica of the Solent police launches of that time: a) it moves too fast, b) it's not billowing black smoke, c) it's not making enough engine noise, and d) it's not towing half the Solent behind! 😀

at last I took it for its first run on the lake and it went like a dream,can't tell you how good it looked lots of interest from others,its running on twin Emax EL4030/10 motors,two Hobbywing 60 brushless speed controllers and four 18.5 volt 5s1p LI polymer 4000 mah 35c batteries .what can I say but a really good kit from speed line models,would love to build the trent now but don't think the wife would let me go missing for another year in the shed but fingers crossed

Hobby King F1 Tunnel
A freind from a photographic club has kindly forwarded these pics to me. Well, you know what its like when you are at the controls, there is never anyone around to take any decent pics, but think these are superb, especially when considering it was going almost flat out at the time, and plenty of "air" under the forward hull, right up the tha last "step" in the hull at the stern.

11.1v lipo, 3000kv motor and standard 3 blade 32mm plastic prop.

    I found after some "trial" that the ORIGINAL plastic prop suited the motor better.
    I did try a specialist one from prop shop and it actually ran slower, albeit same diameter, but with bigger pitch.

    Sometimes you cant beat what the factory supply!

    Ok, thanks for that info. I have hot shot tunnel hull and a 47 insane v-hull. I'm big on the fuel driven, nitro or gas. I've been exsperamenting with perpellor size and I've come to the conclusion that I need to get a GPS or other type of tracking device to determine if their is some tpye significant change happening with the performance. I'm just starting this hobby , so is there any recommend reading you would suggest or general knowledge site I could look on for beginners. Thanks in advance for any more help you can provide.

Hobby King F1 Tunnel.
Finally managed to get a fellow club member to take some video for me.
This is a hobby King Tunnel hull boat, running a brushless motor and 11.1v 3 cell.
The weather was a bit windy, hence the rough sound, the water too was slightly choppy, any worse and I would of not run the boat, too risky flipping the hull over !

The boat itself was yet another ebay "rescue" item, sold by "cash converters", all I say it was a great pity the previous owner could not afford to keep it, its a fantastic piece of kit, and so, so much fun to handle. he also did a superb job of applying a different set of decals and repainting it, so thmbs up to this guy, hope that some day he finds this site and the video clip.
Your boat is still being appreciated and being run "as it should be - full throttle"

    Its an exciting "ride", full throttle is not for the faint hearted [ha ha]. its a total difference to my normal sailing modes, as Im more used to "scale sailing", so being let loose occaisionally can be fun too. I think everyone should have one, a fast boat that is, purely just for the adrenaline rush you get.

F1 Tunnel - Hobby King
First trial run after purchase off good old Ebay. Running 26kv motor and 11.1v lipo. its a little bit "skippy", but after returning to shore, it looks like it may simply be the height of the prop shaft, so now adjusted, ready for a second trial shortly....more to follow.

    They can be very stable and get a higher level of speed over a mono hull. BUT ...... yep, there always has to be one............ I find that a mono hull can sail in any type of water condition, twin hulls, or tunnel hulls are better suited for calmer water. the main risk is for the hull to flip over backwards if thits the crest of a wave and the wind gets under the bows, the centre section then acts as a sail , wind catches it and lifts the hull nose up........... and over !

    If you get the chance to sail one.......try it, they are good fun to sail, take a bit of concentration to get the best speed out of them, especially on turns.

    Its like any boat, there are good things and bad in all of them to a degree.

SemI Scratch build from a my hobby store plan and hull [only] kit. After 18 months its still an ongoing build 🔨 , as my research in to the original vessel continues so I can get it as correct as possible. 😯
I have managed to get all the correct light patterns on and working, as well as twin radar and now finally have got the crane to operate remotely from the radio transmitter. 👍

    Sorry but No, This boat has not yet been on display anywhere as not yet completely finished, merely undergoing "sea trials" to check ballasting and seaworthyness if you get my meaning, as due to its flat bows, it is not the smoothest of vessels to steer, or if given too much throttle it heaves a lot of water over the bows.

Predator Outrigger MK1 Outrigger Hydro
Built from a .PDF plan I found on the net, this 22" Outrigger Hydro sports a Hobbywing 3600Kv Brushless, along with a Hobbywing 60A esc, a 5000mAh 11.1v 45C LiPo, and an Octura X435 Prop connected to a Strudder from Prestwich models.. it weighs 930g without the battery, with the battery, she goes 1386g.
This was it's Maiden run, at Herbert Woods Boatyard, at Potter Heigham Norfolk. it ran very nicely, but can do with a little tweaking to get more speed.
For the record, I did not swear, it was someone onlooking.

    I have not played with the prop depth and angle yet, however, she has been banished to the back of the cupboard to make way for the MK2, to be re-visited a later date.

egrete - Rhine pusher tug.
Built from scratch from plans supplied by my hobby store. has a fully remote controlled operating "elevating wheelhouse" with scissor type lifting legs. operating nav lights, fog horn and twin radar units. Also has remote operated forward winches for attaching pusher barges to the bow pusher posts. fitted with twin kort nozzles, handles a treat, steers well and could certanly push more than 3 barges!

    HI DAve. I found a cute little geared motor with a nice set of swappable gears in Maplins, made by MFA. it has a 3v motor but if you set the main driveshaft up centrally, it then allows you to have 2 identical "winch drums". to operate the motor "in/out" I used a couple of micro switches set up on top of a servo, so I then use the side/side on my left joystick for example, afterall, you only really need to operate it when setting up to the barge once in the water and again when removing the barge before lifting out again, but ciould work for almost any "winch" operation.

    I am unable to post pics to this message/reply, but will post detail in the electrical section, make it easier.

    That is avery nice pusher, sir. I have built one VAC-U-BOAT 22" HiPS kit and a 35" Dumas American Beauty. Both were given my boat shop's paint scheme (ILLINIWEK MARINE). I am multitasking on a couple boats, and one is another US Western river towboat, scratchbuilt up from a salvaged Dumas
    Am. Beauty hull. (That hull was temp scrapped when my xacto knife got away from me trimming the deck knuckle.) My plan is to fit a telescoping
    pilothouse which is common to upper Mississippi, Illinois, Ohio rivers.
    My dilemma is the method of operating the pilothouse lift; can you advise with any info please? I thought of a linear servo w/worm gear maybe.

Aerokits Fairey Swordsman
First trials of freshly restored 1970s Aerokits Swordsman rescued as a wreck from ebay (I was the only bidder it looked so bad....!) earlier this year. Was diesel powered and had loads of lead ballest glassed into hull which had to be cut out and replaced with new ply with the rest of the structure lightened and stiffended with new ply. Now fitted with Turnigy 600 Typhoon Brushless and 90A Seawing ESC and 55 min Graupner prop. Handling is excellent and turns really well using a small size Graupner rudder with fast acting large angle Hobbywing servo. Joined my collection of 34 and 46 Fireboats, Sea Hornet, Sea Queen and Commander, all restored over the past 3 years. Aerokits have come into their own with clean and quiet brushless power we could not dream of in the 1960s

Aerokit Fireboat 34"
Boat was given to me in poor condition approx 30 years ago, no running gear and most fittings missing or broken, originally powered with IC motor.
I have installed a 43A 700KV Outrunner Brushless motor, Model No : XYH42-50 and a Hobbywing Seaking 60W / Reverse Program Brushless ESC bought from Giantcod, powered by a 3 cell 2200 mAh Lipo battery runtime 15 to 18min, the prop is a 42.5mm 2 blade racing prop. I am well pleased with the performance of the boat.
I belong and sail at the Hartsholme Electric Model Boat Club, Lincoln.
