HI everybody
Another ebay purchase, a Fire Tender which I think is from the 50's. it is fitted with a very unusual old motor with sprung loaded brushes, capacitors, and a fan.... seems to run happily on 12v, which I plan to reinstall. Does anybody recognise it? it was fitted with a 'spring' universal joint. I am fitting a conventional UJ. There is also a circular switch attached to the motor. This appears to be wired to switch in up to 3 battery supplies! but I think I will fit a modern controller with modern nicads.
I sail at the Maldon and Blackwater Model Boat Club at Heybridge.

Yes it is...I scratch built it using a GRP 'workboat' hull as a base. I used a simple drawing from the 'Jolie Brise' book blown up to size. I altered the bow, stern and the keel to match the drawing. The rig is slightly undersize and simple the keel is deeper, the deck layout is very approximate taken from photos but simplified to make it more robust for sailing. it has a winch for sail control and the rudder is controlled from the tiller via lines and blocks to a servo under the cabin top.
As you probably know the boat was bought as a Le Havre Pilot boat by EG Martin who then instigated the Fasnet Race, which Jolie Brise won 3 times.
Thanks for recognising it.....best regards Frank - chiffsPetty Officer 2nd ClassHI Frank I have built model of jolie brise from plans I got from France made few years ago as static model, I have made uo a false keel that I can fit as and when I get round to making sails, have provision for steering via chords running thro the deck in tubes to the steering servo, as yet no thought as to how to install sail winch as have only small openings where hatches fit. you are right about her being pilot cutter and winning fastnet 3 times, she was however built by Monsieur Paumelle in 1913, I hope at some time to get her on the water.

S80 Schnellboot
This is my 1/24th scale S80 Schnellboot,it has a Metcalfe GRP hull,the superstructure is a mix of 3mm/4mm ply and 2mm plasticard,it has 3 x Graupner 600FG motors that have a 3.1 ratio gearboxes fitted,the props are 55mm witches hat type,and it has 3 x Electronize 30amp speed cont,it has a really good scale speed running on 2 motors but nearly jumps out of the water when all 3 are engaged,It was scratch built from plans,but not by me,I got it in plain grey,I did the paint job and added the crew,I sail her on a pond near to my home in Edzell,

Billing Polar Trawler
I have had this boat for about 5 years, so thought that it would like a day out. Sailing at Cwmbran August 2012. its a Billing Polar Trawler, not now made but at about 32 inch long is a managable size. Twin 385 motors 35mm 3 blade brass props. and running on a 7.2 volt 3700 mAh NiMh viper speed controller and a 2.4 Ghz RC it will potter around all morning on one battery. I originally ran it on a 6Volt 4Ah Gel Cell and 27 Mhz setup.

- jelley_babyChief Petty Officer 1st ClassHI Rob if you have an email address that I could use I have photos of the boat, a friend at my club is also restoring one so I have just taken some photos but I could take some more of the areas that you require easily, sadly I do not have a plan myself as my polar was bought on Ebay at least 5 years ago and I had to work from a billing catalogue photo and some photos from old Model Boat Magazines. Hope to hear from you if that will help.

here are few pictures of sea queen scratch built plank on frame using Ikea blind slats ,

runs OK but still to sought out motor esc and prop , runs of 5mins befor cut out kicks in . ....
so back in the dock for motor change , so when weather gets better will give it another go at Portishead where there is bit more space to get some on the water shooting-pictures 👍 .cheers Larry...

- chrisbrownRecruitHI there, I have a sea queen that I found in my mates grandads house, built in 1959 with paper work for the ganette 15cc motor, the boat was in VGC but I just had to restore it, the motor and esc I used is from gaint cod, the motor is a EMP 50/65 410kv with a 100amp ESC on 4cell lipo 5000 with a 70mm plastic prop, the speed is a bit over scale speed but the run times are up to 20 minutes.Brushless is the way forward, brushed motors are a thing of the past.

This sounds very exciting. I have a Sea Queen kit which I want to start and have put off whilst I research what to put in it. Any photos or video of your Sea Queen in action?
What make of Lipo do you use? I'm just on the cusp of buying a couple and they seem to vary hugely in price. Presumably you got yours from Giant Shark?

SCOTISH RINGNET FISHER SCARBH
This is a scratch built 1;16 fishing/motor sailor from a free plan by james pottinger, made from old teak furniture with mahogany wheelhouse, technobots sound system, 12 volt power shower motor, the original was built by james adams at gourock in 1946 and is still sailing in the western isles of scotland.

Yeoman Wavemaster Circa 1960's
Well this is the latest Ebay purchase arrived from the seller today. I ask my self am I mad or just mad on old Retro boats from my teens, this one is complete with a lovely big Taycol Supermarine motor, but will it work with modern RC I ask my self, or would it just be better to restore the boat using modern Electrics, we will see. I will post again when the work is underway. I find that building and restoring, fills my retirement days.

Sea Breacher
Not your typical submarine but certainly an unusual semI submersible. Scratch built by fellow club member Brian Clewes this is a most striking looking vessel. Fiberglass hull and moulded perspex window. Home built waterjet uses a large 900 (I think) brushed motor, water cooled speed controller and 14.4v LiPo. Looks really spectacular on the water and Brian is working on the ballast to enable the model to remain just submerged. Video to follow in due course.

Walton Thames ASRL
Hi" to all model boat builders. I thought I would add my new project to this fireboat website for all to see ! I bought this from fleabay as a total wreck. She is a rare Scratch built from a plan of a Walton Thames RAF ASRL launch at 36 inch long & 8 inch wide.took me approx 6 months to do the rebuild. Brush painted with 5 assorted colours with decals working lights ect.
Walton Thames is now running on a new Johnston speed 600 electric motor. 50 amp speed controller 45mm pitched propeller.A 6 volt at4.ah which gives good running time & good scale speed. Photos are taken at Eaton park Norwich England. Enjoy. 😊

Another project is a very old 1950 damaged 'ASL'hull. I have the original drawing titled 'British Power Boat' who were the builders in wartime. it has a 'whaleback' cabin surmounted by 2 machine guns in turrets. These I have cut from radio valves.
Its a most unusual looking boat.
