Hi Who makes this boat and what is it made out of. I have a boat it was made by Model flight Accessories in Deal Kent England. The hull look the same but the deck is different. Mine is made from ABS Plastic. The size of it is 570mm long, with a 230mm beam.

This model was from a kit manufactured by DPI Leisure industries in the USA, almost the same construction,
and as far as I know, not in business any more with the modelling side of things.
That Piranha is a superb model and even better when coupled with an otznot brushless and 4s I know I have one here

At Ilfracombe pond is Bob Burrows Vintage Model Boat Co kit of the Fast Patrol Boat. Bobs made a nice job of it and has brushless motor with Lipoly batteries. Forward / reverse control was nothing special on maiden voyage and came close to a good sinking !!!

It's nice and fast but doesn't seem to want to turn very well. What is the rudder like is it too big and also how much leading edge has the rudder got. I used to have this sort of trouble and went for a slightly smaller rudder and cut away the leading edge and it solved my problems.

Hi. Just put this back together after the 3rd brushless motor caught fire. Made from a rejected glass fibre hull which I bought cheap at a show. I have now learned how to do glass fibre repairs.

Hi, thanks for the info👍 I'm new to BLs, but learning fast, and your experience confirms my growing suspicions that outrunners not only deliver more torque than inrunners (size for size) but that they are also more reliable and seldom need water cooling.
Your new motor seems to be a larger diameter 58mm?, as opposed to 31mm for the old one, so I begin to wonder if the old ones were simply overloaded by a big prop causing them to draw more and more current and hence cook! 😡😭

the deck fittings were copied as best as I could from photos and drawings found on line. powered by 2- 2200kv brushless out runner motors through 2 20 amp speed controllers. twin contra rotating props twin rudders fast and light a pleasure to build

By the way, you may get some Viagra (10.8v Nihm battery) on Ebay. You will find them with either AA-type cells and C-type cells. I do prefer the C-type cells. Expect to pay around $45-50 USD. I bought some from a German store named "www.Conrad.de", but it seems they no longer offer them.

Real life boat could be a 32-footer (9.75m) yacht. 3mm 9v LED navigation lights system. With a hull and superstructure consisting of an “Indiana” style command cabin, it was built using a pretty basic birch plywood American kit designed for swimming pool water polo. Kit altered to resemble a fictitious Salvamento Marítimo (Spanish Coast Guard) unit following Salvamento Marítimo’s actual boat markings. Equipment and deck layout inspired on actual Springer tug push boats supporting larger vessels and barges found in US and European ports and rivers. Model built during September – October 2015. Approx. 1/18 scale. Real life boat could be a 30-footer (9.14m) vessel. Equipped with 9v LED navigation lights and sound system. Powered by an HPI Racing 1145 Gt 550 Motor, NiMH 7.4v battery, a 3-bladed 44mm propeller, and a 6-12V 320A RC Ship & Boat R/C Hobby Brushed Motor Speed Controller.

Very nice vessel. I'm thinking I will have to build a recovery craft of some sort and something like that would do it for me. Weed is a bit of a problem where I sail and have been thinking a swamp boat (airboat). Any thoughts ?

22.5 inches RC boat inspired on 1970s Chris-Craft Commander 36, 42 and 45 footer boats. Model equivalent to a real-life 36 footer vessel. Barebones fiberglass hull from a UK manufacturer. Powered with a brushed 500 motor, 30A controller, 9.6v NIHM battery. Video made during first trial at the Eibsee lake in Bavaria, Germany.

This model was from a kit manufactured by DPI Leisure industries in the USA, almost the same construction,
and as far as I know, not in business any more with the modelling side of things.
That Piranha is a superb model and even better when coupled with an otznot brushless and 4s I know I have one here
