The other part of the video (from the new camera) Finally found an editing program for it (cost me $40 though!) - I need one for MOV, as for some stupid reason, the makers of the camera use Apple Quicktime MOV which is a pain. Should be set now for editing.
New coupling with the cable ties seemed to hold up well this time, although the throttle end point is set to 80%,- looks scale enough as it is though.(only a 2400mah 3s battery, so not a long run time if you are going flat out- can suck 35-40A!). Pity the launching vid was rubbish, but have the amphitruck sorted with a towbar now, so I'll give it another crack when there is a good day.
Looks too good to be a model, are you sure you filmed the model.
It's brilliant and looks so realistic, well done sir, a model to be very very proud of.

Thanks Colin, video could have been better (used to using the camera on my head for years, which always keeps the object centered,- with it on the TX you have to remember to turn your body) I'll learn eventually😁 Tried to do a better one today using the amphitruck to launch it, but the tide was coming in a bit fast round the ramp. Don't get many days a year like that one in NZ (no wind, tide just right, decent light and not too many people or boats (apart from the huge blue and white 'liner' docking 😁) Usually windy here, being on the coast.
Re the real one,- that was a lot easier to fish from, this one's a bit cramped lol.
Made a few adjustments, including alloy braces for the motor pylon (was a bit flexible and I think it was twisting slightly under power. Rudder linkages still need tightening up (crappy HK clevises,-probably will fit ball links) but it was a bit better this time (apart from a high speed excursion into the rushes at the end,-no damage, got in the shadow and brain couldn't calculate time, angle and distance😁) Battery was down to 7.5v/cell after all this (4000mAh 3s) so not a bad run time. Only had full throttle for about 3 secs total, -too hairy!😁 Put in expo and dual rates but that didn't do much (too much rudder slop to be accurate). Back to the mod shop.
Hi JB - the ones we have are at the most 2mm - cut one on the laser last week for a stencil for beehives - was not talking about the the thick nylon type boards ,
Boat is Scratch built 36" British Power Boat 64ft High Speed ASR Launch which belonged to the RNZAF. The launch was one of the 22 built and was shipped to NZ in 1940. it was the only one of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. Model has twin motors, ESCs, sound units etc. Has remotely switched water pump for water cooled brushless 2000kv in runner motors and remotely switched lighting. Uses 2x 2200mah 2s LiPos for drive and 1 1800mah LiPo for the pump (also a separate battery for the LED lights. Boat is built with strip planked balsa on ply frame and fiber glassed. Deck is ply, wheelhouse is varnished balsa. The colour is as it was for most of its time in the RNZAF . Took about 5 years on and off to build and finished it last year. (please ignore the time date - can't get rid of it .
Assembled in 1986. Came out of loft storage, fired up and R/C after 15 years, in August 2018. Shown here at Millbrook Lake, Cornwall. A Krick model - well documented for its origins on their webpages, but steam power arrangements have been updated from this, the so-called "Puffin" arrangement, which was the available and recommended one at the time 1.5 bar pressure and about 20 minutes running time, but often wind-dependent on keeping the gas flame intact!! With a condenser fitted, a very realistic model and great manoeuvrability... and fun!!
On Sunday our model boat club did a show at Hamilton's Steam Museum . Kind of hard running model & recording video at the same time but I managed to not run into any ones boat .
FeiLun FT-011 HIGH SPEED Ready to Run electric Racing Boat
Been flying planes for many years and never thought to try boats until very recently. Just tried out the Feilun FT-011 and thought it was awesome for a first time single hull boat. Fairly quick, good run time and the fact that it will self right if it flips is a big bonus. Could not flip it myself despite some full speed tight turns but think it probably would if jumped some waves. You would expect for a relatively cheap outfit that the seals might not be perfect but after the first run there was virtually no water inside. 5.5 minute running time as well which seems decent for a 4S2200 pack. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to taking it out on the water again soon. Filmed with the Panasonic AG-UX180 4K Pro camcorder.
This Fast Patrol Launch was originally built by me and my father in'62/3 it was my entry into marine modelling. initially free-running with a tiny old school blue-cased Mabuchi, it was never 'fast' -as a result it was recomisioned several times over the years but remained dull. in 2013, it was refitted yet again but this time she got a nice potent brushless and a full array of lights. Now she goes very well here at the Oxford lake.
Having reviewed many planes, quads and cars over the last 3 years so it was refreshing to get a boat in the water. Why didn't I do this a long time ago? Bit addictive to say the least. Was surprised how quick this thing was on 3 cells. Lots of tight turns and no hint of it tipping. And a good run time not far off the manufacturers stated 8 minutes. Balance seemed to be quite critical though. The stock 3S2500 in the battery holder had it on step from the go. I dropped in a 3S2200 and despite pushing it to the furthest forward point it would bog down when it lost momentum. Easily solved with a little lead on some velcro next time out. Otherwise really impressed. Zero time to set it up. Nice it has rates dial for steering on the transmitter so can go between hooligan style tight turns and smooth high speed turns. Looking forward to taking it out again.
Hello MBWs U37 is made from 3 recycled Go system butane gas cans, clockwork as usual and about half way through the build. Im also trying to embrace new technology but its not easy because im a Luddite. The boat will end up 22" long and will dynamic dive or surface run. Total build time so far around 40 hours.

A few pics of my partly scratch build RTTL from Kitshack. Picked this up from Ebay as a first kit.
Has a few printed balsa hullparts but lots of templates to cut out. Plans also show lots of topside details.
Powered orignally by 2 MFA 500's and 2 7.2 NiMH with 35mm props, OK but run time poor.
Complete change, 2 400's and downsized to 25mm props, much better run time and good on the plane.
Next upgrade is to LiPo batteries.
Next build is likely to be an Aerokits Sea Hornet or Sea Breeze.
Really fine looking model. The detail really adds to the finished model.
Glad to hear you have chosen to go for smaller motors and props. The weight saving will really have improved the performance, and LiPos will make it sparkle. if your ESC(s) do not have some sort of cut off for low volts I suggest you fit a warning device to the LiPo to prevent over discharge.
Be good to see the model running on the water!

Sadly although my ESC's (tamiya TBLE02's) are Lipo compatible research says their cut off limit may be too low so fitting the alarms too as a fail safe.

This is my M.F.A Tracker . When originally purchased it had the large and heavy 850 motors in it and old electronics , after a close call with a fire on board I decided to refit her out with modern Brushless motors and over rated Escs powered by Lipo's . Works out a 1/3 rd the weight 3 times the speed and run time over an hour . So a great result
