Powered orignally by 2 MFA 500's and 2 7.2 NiMH with 35mm props, OK but run time poor.
Complete change, 2 400's and downsized to 25mm props, much better run time and good on the plane.
Next upgrade is to LiPo batteries.
Next build is likely to be an Aerokits Sea Hornet or Sea Breeze.

Glad to hear you have chosen to go for smaller motors and props. The weight saving will really have improved the performance, and LiPos will make it sparkle. if your ESC(s) do not have some sort of cut off for low volts I suggest you fit a warning device to the LiPo to prevent over discharge. Be good to see the model running on the water! Dave 😀

Dave 😀 - sigfortunataPetty Officer 1st ClassIndeed Dave, charger, batteries, alarms and charging bag on order!!Indeed Dave, charger, batteries, alarms and charging bag on order!! Sadly although my ESC's (tamiya TBLE02's) are Lipo compatible research says their cut off limit may be too low so fitting the alarms too as a fail safe. hoping to get some video once its running consistently.

A 1:12 scale model of a Thorneycroft RAF launch, length 43in., beam 12.5in Suitable for 2.5cc upwards. Excellent for R/C. Completely detailed on two large sheets.

I built this Range Safty Launch two years ago and I am now changing the hull paintwork to also include a water line. I never got around to doing this for some reason.
Range Saftey Launch
I purchased the plans for this model after my late father passed away, he too was building this model but failed to finish it before he died. My father was an Ex RAF Patrol boat pilot, hence the design was appropriate. The plans (Two sheets) are really well presented and easy to use. Each of the sheets provide ample detail to construct the basic model and if you are an experienced builder then these should suffice. However, a little research may be required to put the final touches together for the completed model (If you are a perfectionist like me). These plans are suitable for a novice as a first time project. This being my first attempt at a scale model. The boat once completed sails really well. I fitted mine out with electric motors, speed controller etc and when on the water a few heads turned! Fantastic plans GO FOR IT! Roy McCluskey
Built on an Alan Horne hull, the deckhouses are all scratch built from mahogany and brass from photographs.
The deck is planked with 100metres of 2mm x 0.5mm Lime stripwood, each plank edged using a pencil to achieve the effect of corking.
This is a scratch build from plans, of the "Angel's Gate II" , at the Los Angeles Maritime museum. This example has a bilge pump, diesel horn, and will be adding a fire monitor. My nephew is pretty excited about it, he is 4, and already has been practicing with the transmitter!

OA Length 710 mm, Beam 180 mm. AUW 1.98Kgs.
She carries the name 'JAYSHIL". it is a portmanteau derived from the names of my late parents.
Model features working lights as prescribed by the international Maritime Authorities:

In keeping with Rules 22 and 23:

Brushed 550 motor, Reversible ESC, 2S LiPo, Turnigy Blue Prop, Working Lights and indigenous Sound Generator unit.
Video is available here: (you may need to turn down the volume a bit as the horn is rather loud)
I would welcome any queries and/or comments on this build.
Thanks and Regards,

Model is 65" long with a beam of 10". Power is by electric running via a gearbox at 300 rpm. Ihave taken almost 2years to complete the model working most days on it. Attention to detail was the order of the day.
I am using a Planet T5 Tx and Rx, 5 channels. I have a smoke generator pushing steam out of the twin funnels, synchronised to forward speed, faster the revs, faster the steam. Conventional rudder operation.
Have an operating Radar, ships horn, simulated steam noise varies as speed is altered, full navigation lights, all cabin lights can be switched on and to keep the 106 passengers happy I have a Banjo Band playing to complete the scene. Have sailed it recently at Peterborough and performs really really well. Have to say it tends to attract a lot of interest.
I am now constructing the Ayton Cross tug in 1:32 scale, with all the detail I want.Plan is to tow the Jeanie Deans around when completed as well assailing her
Walton Thames is now running on a new Johnston speed 600 electric motor. 50 amp speed controller 45mm pitched propeller.A 6 volt at4.ah which gives good running time & good scale speed. Photos are taken at Eaton park Norwich England. Enjoy. 😊
My next project will be a 1950s Aerokits/Keilcraft Sea hornet. " So watch this space "

- GreggSub-LieutenantHI DAve. I found a cute little geared motor with a nice set of swappable gears in Maplins, made by MFA. it has a 3v motor but if you set the main driveshaft up centrally, it then allows you to have 2 identical "winch drums". to operate the motor "in/out" I used a couple of micro switches set up on top of a servo, so I then use the side/side on my left joystick for example, afterall, you only really need to operate it when setting up to the barge once in the water and again when removing the barge before lifting out again, but ciould work for almost any "winch" operation.HI DAve. I found a cute little geared motor with a nice set of swappable gears in Maplins, made by MFA. it has a 3v motor but if you set the main driveshaft up centrally, it then allows you to have 2 identical "winch drums". to operate the motor "in/out" I used a couple of micro switches set up on top of a servo, so I then use the side/side on my left joystick for example, afterall, you only really need to operate it when setting up to the barge once in the water and again when removing the barge before lifting out again, but ciould work for almost any "winch" operation. (That hull was temp scrapped when my xacto knife got away from me trimming the deck knuckle.) My plan is to fit a telescoping pilothouse which is common to upper Mississippi, Illinois, Ohio rivers. My dilemma is the method of operating the pilothouse lift; can you advise with any info please? I thought of a linear servo w/worm gear maybe. Fitted with a decaperm 3:2 geared motor and twin 12v 7amphr batteries, it can run for several hours, even when towing other boats around the pool.. Fog horn installed, lighting system, working decca radar, Illuminated map desk and decca unit on the bridge.
