I bought this ready to sail kit from Howes Models on my return to model boating after a break of 25 years.
My longtime friend Chris and I made the video as a bit of fun and to celebrate our return.
Watch out for the green dragon on the starboard bow!

This is a small lake at County Hall, Worcester, the HQ of Worcestershire County Council and now the Sunday morning venue of Droitwich Spa Model Boat Club, of which I am a member.
Yes, the club is well supported and barring ice, there is attendance every Sunday throughout the year.
Coincidentally, this was my sailing venue 25years ago.

I found the basic boat, a Keil Kraft Sea Rover, in an old second hand shop some years ago, and decided to put her back together. Couldn't resist adding some figures to the deck, even a pair of binoculars.
I added a RC motor and took her to a nearby boating lake. Used a couple of times before retiring to the loft for the last 10 years.
Recently took her out and after a bit of polish and oil for the pro shaft, she's running well.
My question is, does anyone know what's she's worth?

I have just completed this model - just waiting for the new prop to arrive along with a flag for the main mast, plus handrail staunchions. it was a Precedent all wood kit and not too Impressed with the materials but you only get what you pay for. I have fitted a Graupner 700 Speed Turbo and a Torpedo 50 Amp ESC. I am powering it with 2 6 volt SLA's wired in series. Overall I think it has turned out not too bad and it seemed to get better the more I worked on it (or is that psychlogical)Tested in the Marine testing laboratory (white bath) and floats OK with no sign of a leak (fingers crossed). Our boating pond will be frozen over at the moment so no real testing can take place yet.

HI Dave
Yes, my ESC is a Tornado 50 Amp which is the same as my friend's one - in fact I bought it on his recommendation, however I usually use Mtroniks. Our motors are not the same but both have similar RPM at 12 volt. I have ordered 3 more props of varying sizes and pitch to see how it will perform - had I have seen my friend down the lake in the last few months since I have been building my Perkasa, I might have got the prop right to start with ! I don't think I will get a 'pass' to get down the lake before Christmas so hopefully it will not be too cold and freeze the lake again before I get a chance to try her out.

Down at the lake this morning. Boat is now complete with hand rails fitted and painted. 40MM 2-blade X type prop fitted and with the batteries moved back she went really well. The bow lifted well out of the water and got on the plane very easily - would not want or need to go any faster.

I'll get some pictures when I next see it as it is kept at my Mums place in the NE where the lake at the Tynemouth club is big enough to take it given its speed and size. if you are blowing fuses, make sure you haven't over greased the shaft. I did that once and really only a light greasing of the inner shaft and some light oil on the bearings is all that is required. Also try a smaller prop. You may not get any reduction in Speer as the motor may rev faster and at lower amps. I've just taken the 50mm 3 blade brass props off mine and put 45mm 2 blade plastic racing props on and she runs faster and smoother. Hope this helps.

Bought off ebay, where else! Had been started as a cruiser, with one very small electric motor, then put in a loft for goodness knows how many years.Replaced prop shaft with 2, 40mm r/h and l/h props, 2x 540 motors running through 40a esc.Radio is 27mhz. 2ch. would like to swap to 2ghz to get rid of the unsightly aerial! I am awaiting some plasticard windows to Improve the looks and will slowly add fittings as and when.I tend to sail it every now and again on the boating lake in BUXTON, no-one has shouted as yet, though I'm not sure the swans approve.!: The photo on the water was just as the power was running down, none as yet at speed. It is very manoeverable with the twin rudders, almost on the gunwhales at speed.

HI fellow modellers, Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir. This model was scratch built using a fibre glass hull and plan obtained from a fellow modeller at the Bridgend Show in 2007. The front door and some fittings are made from plastic card and tube, decks are from ply and timber. On board figures are from the pound shop and car boot sales, modified by myself. The on board tank and half truck are RTR models that I have modified their looks to fit into a WWII theme for the craft. This craft has twin drive, 400 motors via 2.5/1 gearboxes. I tend to use both sticks on the TX for drive as this allows me to turn the model on a six pence. The dispatch door works from a rotary pot on the TX and via a rotary sail winch servo in the hull. I have just modified my Planet 5 TX to allow me to change my radio gear in this craft. This model has had meny trips on Cwmbran Boating Lake and at shows the society attend during the year. Still haven't allowed the tank or half track to run off the landing craft up the lake side slipway. one day I might get it on video. Hope you enjoyed the photo's. Regards GreyWolf

HI Fellow Modellers,
Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir. This model was built from a Caldercraft Kit, This model came into my possession for the price of 20p, a raffle prize at Bryn Bach Model Clubs OPen Day 2010, when it was built is unknown. The item being made for display use and not finished off, no internal electronic fixtures. Did have a prop shaft and prop that had not been fitted correctly. 50% of all the fixtures had to be removed and refitted before they fell off, some didn't stay in place from the show back home. The model was finised off using a photo of the Milford star on the internet. The fish boxes and figures being obtained off DON one of the Society members who had a mould to make them in white metal, only required cleaning up and finishing off. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic on the water,a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The drive motor is a 550 with the lowest revs I had in MJB's this was married up to a 2.5/1 gearbox I also had in stock. The main motor and steam unit are supplied from a 7.2 volt nicad racing pack. This model has had meny fishing trips on Cwmbran Boating Lake and at shows the Society visit. Hope you enjoy the pictures, Regards GreyWolf.

HI fellow Modellers,
Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir. This model was built using a Billings Kit, bought for me as a Christmas pressent in 2009. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The steam engine rotates using a stripped down minI servo, fitted under the motor housing on the deck, again linked to the main motor voltage. The two 9.6 volt AA batteries and control gear are mounted under the boats floor, forward locker, a minI servo for steerage is fitted under the rear seat and the receiver is located under the wood pile. Figures are self made from items obtained from the local pound shop. The modal can be seen sailing at Cwmbran Boating Lake or at shows the society visit.

Hope you enjoy the pictures, Regards GreyWolf.
Hi" I thought I would put my new rebuild on for all to see ! I found this old Marblehead yacht as a wreck. She was gathering dust in an old reclaim ferniture wherehouse whilst we were on holiday last summer. Been told the yacht had been originaly scratch built in 1950s from a plan. She took me about half a year to rebuild. New parts as follow hiteck sail arm winch with 18lbs of torque. New futaba servo for the rudder. New sails & booms rigs & fittings. New deck made from plank strip wood & varnished. Also finished in painted Ivery white. She sail well in lite to strong winds At my local boating lake at Sheringham Norfolk .
works well on a Spekrum DX5E But can work on any other 2 channal transmitter .
Hope you enjoy the photos .

Yes, the club is well supported and barring ice, there is attendance every Sunday throughout the year.
Coincidentally, this was my sailing venue 25years ago.
