Hate to split hairs, but am researching a Brave Borderer for my next project. in doing so can advise that although the BB and the Brave Swordsman were sister ships, they had different superstructures. Have no idea why.
The Perkasa was different again, it resembles the BB but it has an enclosed wheel house in front of what looks like a BB superstructure. This extended portion can be seen on the pictures.

Enjoyed the rest of your post though, it helped explain some of the export derivatives of the Brave class which I could not otherwise pin down.

I had also noticed the slight differences in superstructure; especially the aft part and the bridge top/screen. But I noticed these variations also in the Danish and other variants. Didn't want to overload the post with these as I thought it was long enough already😲
Seems some variations were introduced depending on the base variant it was ordered as MTB or MGB (most of which still had at least two torpedoes!). Since the Brave class were apparently very expensive to produce (which is why only two were built not the planned six?) the later variants were based on a cheaper export version, 'Felicity' type I think they were called. They were a little smaller but with similar performance and firepower to the Braves, some with two Perseus turbines instead of two but most with three as in the Braves, and cheaper to build with wood on alu frames instead of all metal. Usually classed as FPBs or FACs depending on armament.
Summary; The Perkasa was not a generic class but a specific four ship class for the RMN. Basis for the hulls and superstructure design was the same as the Braves and Felicity but some 'poetic license' was taken with subsequent export order with variations even within classes.
Comparing available (to me) pics again I now tend to agree with you that the rounded bridge of the model is more like the Perkasa class than the box-like bridge of Swordsman. 😲
BTW: in 1971 the RMN Perkasas were upgraded with SS12 missiles so there's another interesting variant for the aficionados 😉
Credentials: was not in the RAF (but Dad was!), but I worked with the RMN and the Surabaya shipyard (and various other bidders) on the design of the COMMS systems for the replacements for the Perkasa class and then their replacements, up to the current NGPV-2 (New Generation Patrol Vessel-Batch 2). interesting work and people. Also did some work on their new frigates and an auxiliary in the nineties.
One thing I always did before embarking on such projects was to research the background of the navy involved, operational area and requirements and also the potential shipyard partners. Part of establishing confidence and rapport. 😉
Anyway - whatever; model-wise - if it looks right it probably is right! Main thing is fun planning, building and above all sailing, exchanges like this help us all a lot I believe.

Hi Who makes this boat and what is it made out of. I have a boat it was made by Model flight Accessories in Deal Kent England. The hull look the same but the deck is different. Mine is made from ABS Plastic. The size of it is 570mm long, with a 230mm beam.

This model was from a kit manufactured by DPI Leisure industries in the USA, almost the same construction,
and as far as I know, not in business any more with the modelling side of things.
That Piranha is a superb model and even better when coupled with an otznot brushless and 4s I know I have one here

This is a very quick way to make a hull. First remove the silver paper from one side of the foam & reduce thickness to the distance between the stations. Starting at the widest mark the station include the centre line. mark on the on the silver side, cut out square. Continue fore & aft. Stick them all together aligning the centre marks top& bottom, hold in place with cocktail sticks until the PVA is set. Carve the square edges down to the silver at the smaller station. Mark the lines of the plates, cut the plates 8-10 scale ft. 3ft wide max. Simulate rivets before glueing with polyurethane wood glue. The edges of the outer line of plates over lapping the inner use super glue (thick verity) Hope this is clear. hic! hic!!

Many many thanks for your most welcome Pictures and the very welcome advice ,I started this time last year2011 and then found out I was 4inches short for one sixteenth and having built the hull abanded it and never got started again. Built I'm trying to start now but I'm having problems with my computer, need to sort that out first. But I've been down abit too and your kind letter to me has bucked me up too. I've seen the films and get them up on the computer now and then. I've corrected my plans for one sixteenth and I've also started on a set of Plans to make a one sixteenth Whaleback as per the Airfix model, only I was thinking of it when the local Paper had an articule about a local man's Granddaughter did a project for WW2 in her school across the road from where we live and her teacher aproched her Mum about this project and found out that her Dad had written his life on Whaleback's in the North Sea and English Channel and it had been in her loft for sometime So the teacher asked if she could get it published which she did and the process went to re-roof the school, I've forgotten the name but when I find it I will let you know. You say you bought 4? What happened to the other 3? I am always amazed at the deals available outside the UK. Perhaps if similar deals were available there would be more budding young modellers!
Please keep posting pictures of your models. it would be useful if you could also give size details as models to sail need to fit into our cars.

Thank you for your reply I am honered. The other 3 were given away as Christmas presents. Deals of yesteryear are over with the price of plastic his 10 to 20 times higher then the price I paid back in that day. What once was a retail price of $11.95 is now $100.00 and going up.The details of the kit it is scaled in a odd scale of 1/225 giveing you a model length of 36 inch,s just under a meter. the kit came with a gearbox that opperated the turrets,torpedo tubes and turning the twin screws. in order to sail the selected course, there are 4 cams that ride off the gearbox circle, square figure eight, and straight . this was gimic model there were many in the 1950, through the 1960,s but much seriousness is applied to scale and RC these gimic models are now radio controlled. the insides are quite small to work with. But still large enought to modifiy it to RC opperation. get rid of the relic gearbox and 9.0 electric motor, you need to add a 6 volt motor and gear reduction box. speed controll and a new rudder linkage system. Still today the kit is still worth looking in to. The only modification I made as to the overal perspective of appearence is the Hull I am a retired navy man of 30 years I have a trained eye for destroyers I served on 4 of them. the kits hull from the bridge superstructure to the bow the camber is allwrong useing plastic surgury and sheet plastic that portion of the hull has to be raised up to the proper camber, I also added bilge keels the kit didn,t have them. all kits from the 1950,s throught the 60,s never paid that much attention to scale and detail. not much nit picken in that da neither.
