Royal Iris
Another Mersey ferry and another Royal Iris. This is 1:64 scale (3/16":ft), measures 29" long and weighs 11lbs. Powered by NiMH 6V batteries and Electronize 365-14 motors. it is fitted with either a self-contained sound system playing the 60's "Liverpool sound " music, or fitted with 12V NiMH batteries to illuminate the lights.

Interesting to see this model We used to have a visitor who had made a similar rowing model. I believe he used Meccano parts and springs.
It would be interesting to see the workings of your model. You could post in the build blog with some pics.
Posts will be easier for members to read if you don't use all capitals, please.

The RNLI built 13 of these(under license) as the Waveney class, starting in the early 1960's. When the boats got to be "long in the tooth" they found home ports in different countries around the globe that were starting up new life saving organizations. Some of the boats are 50 years old.

BRAVO ZULU! VERY WELL DONE, SIR. As a USCG Veteran, I am pleased to see these MLB's recreated in scale. if she's watertight, you can roll her in the
surf and the boat should self-right. I have an older Billing Boats 1:20 that in theory is ready for heavy surf, but haven't tested her yet. I have seen video, though that confirms it.

Lulonga , river quarterwheeler
Today Lulonga River steamer passed further navigation tests after replacing the ESC.(the new ESC are from HK...), working well,
The electronics work reliably, problems with stability again, but this time with a transverse stability. Since the superstructures that I built are quite heavy, and the model also has a flat bottom, so setting up a balanced position is very sensitive, and somehow I can not.
I try to stick around under the bottom of the line model, additional load.
Perhaps it will also help the exchange wheel

some more Lulonga photos (also other than the model) can be found atl) can be found at

First time in the water and under power. to get the correct trim (ect) I built a test tank from ply and lined it with polythene. To stat with There were two 12V lead acid batteries and the weight of the two motors, she just simply sat there, even the props were above water. After approx 30lbs more weight the correct water line was reached, the white line on the hull follows the sheer line of the main deck and isn't the true water line. So with the two batteries hooked up in parallel, the 12V Proboat Speed controller and the two Duma 12V motors as can be seen quite a good performance.

Lovely looking model, sails well but I think you are going to need more ballast, prop is still partly out of the water.

1/12 scale kit from Metcalf moulding the most difficult part on this model was the rudder section, you have got to get it right because once fitted the deck goes on and there is no turning back,it has 2 X 550 motors on 8.4 sails very well, not to fast but not to slow either,I sail at king Lear model boat club in leicester when I get a chance, lovely big lake all type of vessels on water,eg"
: steam, electric,ic yachts what ever you like

Completely scratch built using balsa wood and Mahogany strips for the decks and bridge and the free plan by James Pottinger issued in Model Boat Magazine November 1996. The plans were well drawn at a scale of 1:93 how ever I doubled the size by just transfering each measurement directly onto the wood and a few card patterns were made when panneling the hull.
Powered with twin 12 volt motors, two 12 volt lead acid batteries and two 1 3/4" props I am well sattisfied with the end result. A full build log with pictures can be found on the ''Leith built Ships" web site, or look under ''The Loftsman"
