34" Fireboat
I tried out my new motor arrangement, ( Graupner speed 600 8.4v motor with a single 9.6v battery pack as recommended by dbninja ) in my Fireboat today. A bit choppy but all went very well at just above half throttle then I began to get braver and added on the power to be met by clouds of smoke and a truly blown ESC. ( See FORUM under Hong Kong ESC ) The new Fire Monitors by Peter HS93 also worked fine using a Vauxhall Astra washer pump, I'd hope to get pics but the sudden halt intervened!

My monitors were kindly produced some time ago by another member of this site who was unfortunately at the last request unable to make any more. You might like to have a go making suitably scaled down versions in the method shown by Pete Harvey on his 46" Fireboat restoration on his website ( link in the 'Useful Links' part of this site ) my initial effort was to try drilling out some white metal fittings- this only proved the soft cheese is probably a more suitable material!
Water is pumped to the monitors using an ebay sourced Astra windscreen washer pump which works fine on my 9.6v setup.

My monitors were kindly produced some time ago by another member of this site who was unfortunately at the last request unable to make any more. You might like to have a go making suitably scaled down versions in the method shown by Pete Harvey on his 46" Fireboat restoration on his website ( link in the 'Useful Links' part of this site ) my initial effort was to try drilling out some white metal fittings- this only proved the soft cheese is probably a more suitable material!

Here is my take on a torpedo boat, YES I know why has it got a rocket launcher on rear, well I wanted something that was different from the rest with my own signature on it. it is powered by a .60 size electric motor 120amp esc, two 5000 3 series lipos. Only allowed to have it going on 1/4 power cause of speeed limit on lake. The hull was originally a 48" deep vee hull but added perkasa superstructure to it.

HI fellow model boat people,just a couple of photos showing a rescued aerokits sea queen circa late 50s.
This was in poor condition, work was started mid January to strip down the various parts that required to be remade, deck/superstructure/roof panels/windows etc.
The hull needed stripping back to give a good surface for the finished paint work.
Completion of the basic boat is now getting near, and ready for fitting out with motor radio etc.
Hope to give more details later.

my now completed 23" range safety launch, speed 400 motor, viper micro 10 esc, first trials not as expected using 8 aa cells wired to give 6 volts, trim ok but not getting up on plane. have ordered 7.2volt split power pack, hope that should do the trick.
have also fitted bigger prop. when do next trial will try get some pihotos on the water.

Just a few more pics, this time of the 1/24th Scale Deans Marine kit I used to scale up the superstructure dimensions for the restoration of my fathers 1/16th scale ST below. Again although built some 2 years ago this was it's first outing on a lake, once more at Crealy near Exeter.
Both 441 & 1515 operated out of Lyme Regis in WW2, 441 on record of rescuing the complete crew of a downed Flying Fortress and 1515 picking up 26 paratroops from Lyme Bay on D day.

HI Chris , well slacko Lyle is again alive and well . I am at email removed - PM only and home address at address removed - PM only. I have desperately searched the web and so little exists as to internal cabin and aft well pics. I have done the asr site and the coastal forces etc and the original John Pritchard moved so many years ago to the north of the UK and ceased to write, perhaps his health was going down . OI joined the returned asr club as a non serviceman and they have a good newsletter of the coastal forces of the still surviving returned servicemen of such a fine bunch who did so much for their nation. My surname is Gadsden , I have the 43 foot seaplane tender , the whaleback, the broad beamed seaplane tender and a part built 68 foot Hants and Dorset to finish one day . I am not too computer literate, sorry > See ya Lyle.

This is my second attempt at scratch building using a a grp hull. My first boat was an MTB/MGB built on a Perkasa hull as a semi-scale model. (see All things Rc - Power setups).
This time I have concentrated on keeping things lighter but it still weighs in at 2.5kg!
I have built without plans, relying on internet photos scaled etc using "Photo deluxe" and "Photo Express".
Virtually everything is built from plasticard apart from a 3mm liteply deck.
The dinghy is epoxy resin and microballoons, ths scramble nets are Lego!
Power is again courtesy of Graupner -2, Speed 600 8.4v using lh. and r.h 35mm props. Esc is one of those 50amp ones from the far east. These are far cheaper than the Viper Marine 40 used in my MGB, but slightly heavier and less sensitive at low speeds. Current drain (in the bath!) is up to 30A but this gives a superb on the water pace of an, estimated,8mph. Battery is a 4,600 mAhr NiMh.
(A true scale speed approaching 150mph plus).
I sail it on Ullswater in the Lake district and the Vosper Perkasa type hull shape is superb in the real waves that we get there, flying over the crests and taking aboard No water!
It really looks the part as my photos would show if I could learn how to load more than one! Can anybody help with this?
