34inch RAF Fireboat
Hello Bob ,Finally got started on the fireboat. Have stripped all the paint and varnish from the deck up and also inside the hull. Now have separated all the cabin roofing and upper bulkheads for access to the keel which has delaminated in places. The complete shaft just pulled out of the hull, the glue had no adhesion at all and a new oil fed shaft will be fitted. The next job will be to strip the paint on the hull, check it out and glass laminate it. More photos soon. Regards Graeme.....

aerokits sea rover / modified fpl
the sea rover was bought locally as a wreck with much of the forward section of the cabin missing , however it has been rebuilt in a matter of weeks to sailing condition , its now running a single vision 600 motor on 7.2 volts , & has a reasonable turn of speed and very good rudder response ! the fpl was a double purchase as I bought a pair of hulls , one had a better finish than its sister although this didnt matter as they were both stripped back to bare timber and resprayed with wilkinsons enamel spray . as the cabins were not remaining Ive made both boats into vospers mk2 range safety launches , neither models are fully finished but Ive started to use 1640 , I know 1646 wasnt a number issued by the raf , but as the model is to be operated by my neice it was the number she has chosen !

British Power Boat Seaplane Tenders
First outing in 51 years for my 1/16th scale Seaplane tender, built originally by my father in 1953 and believed to be an Adamcraft Kit, found with a damaged hull and virtually no superstructure in the loft of their house after my mother had moved to a residential home several years ago. I had moved to Lyme Regis in Dorset where several of these craft were based and which was my fathers inspiration for building this initially, so I thought it time to try and restore her.
I had some difficulty finding plans of the ST and eventually bought and built the Deans Marine 1/24th version of this craft, which I then scaled up to rebuild the original.
Power is by a 600 motor with 2 channel radio and seems to work
well on a 7.2 v battery pack.
I've now joined Exeter & District MBC as it appears to be one of the nearest to us in Lyme and the pics show the ST on the Dragonfly Lake at Crealy.
I would be interested in any info. anyone might have as to Adamcraft as my searches have turned up very little. I believe they specified a Tacol electric or Mills 1.3 petrol engine at the time, but my memory might well be flawed as I was only around 10years old at the time.

RAF RTTL Scratch built on GRP hull.
This is my second attempt at scratch building using a a grp hull. My first boat was an MTB/MGB built on a Perkasa hull as a semi-scale model. (see All things Rc - Power setups).
This time I have concentrated on keeping things lighter but it still weighs in at 2.5kg!
I have built without plans, relying on internet photos scaled etc using "Photo deluxe" and "Photo Express".
Virtually everything is built from plasticard apart from a 3mm liteply deck.
The dinghy is epoxy resin and microballoons, ths scramble nets are Lego!
Power is again courtesy of Graupner -2, Speed 600 8.4v using lh. and r.h 35mm props. Esc is one of those 50amp ones from the far east. These are far cheaper than the Viper Marine 40 used in my MGB, but slightly heavier and less sensitive at low speeds. Current drain (in the bath!) is up to 30A but this gives a superb on the water pace of an, estimated,8mph. Battery is a 4,600 mAhr NiMh.
(A true scale speed approaching 150mph plus).
I sail it on Ullswater in the Lake district and the Vosper Perkasa type hull shape is superb in the real waves that we get there, flying over the crests and taking aboard No water!
It really looks the part as my photos would show if I could learn how to load more than one! Can anybody help with this?

my Sea Rover project
took me a while to find one.... my Aerokits Sea Rover.. I have never actually seen another? so pretty rare compared to fire boats and sea commanders.
the camera lies.. its no where near as good as the camera makes it look. but it is all there.
will be getting the full restoration, hull is sound, superstructure is very fragile.

my Aerokits fleet now includes..
34" fireboat x 2 (1 restored)
fast patrol launch
sea scout (restored)
sea rover
sea commander
fairey swordsman

following a couple new modifications my sea rover has been re motored with a vision 600 without the two torque rings , now running a 7.2 or 9.6 battery pack fitted under the rear floor , Ive also reinstated the box at the stern which has my steering servo mounted underneath it , the "box is to full deck height with a removable top for servo acsess , Ive included a helm position c/w a period helmsman ( hes still got his teddy boy quiff ! ) although Ive not fitted the roof over the cockpit , Ive also cut a door into the front cabin , which will in time have a pair of opening barn doors & a small hinged top hatch over them . working 3mm led navigation and cabin lamps have also been fitted although Ive used a more modern cover for them , After looking through one of my magazines the sea rover bears a very close resembelance to a moody 27 gentlemans sports boat of the mid sixties !

I have two sea rovers - both bought off e-bay. The first is in virtually original condition down to the original motor and speed controller although the speed controller now seems to have given up the ghost so will be replaced with a viper plug and play. I have added a small mast and wired in nav and masthead lights. it sails beautifully and creates a load of interest at the pond side
The second more recent acquisition is an abandoned project, but with most of the construction work done. I have had to rebuild the windscreen frame and I have done this by laminating plasticard. I have to say the finished affect is pretty good although purists are probably tearing their hair out at the very thought of using plasticard! Ah well everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Veron FPB
HI
This is my recent project of the well known Veron FPB patrol boat. it came to me as a part built boat in very poor condition, Ie part built hull with no super structure, fitting, shafts, etc.
it is now near completion, and fitted with twin shafts / 850 motors, yet to be tested.

Aerokits boat? with Merco 61 resto project
Can anyone tell me what boat this is?
I think its a modified Aerokits fire boat or Sea queen,
The deck is different because it steps down, the cabin looks to be modified, the hull is all fibre glass with wooden bulkheads.
Nice 10cc Merco engine.
Will upload more recent pics as the pics are from about 18 months ago, I've since started re building the boat to sail then in future sell.

About the fibre glass hull it looks to be ply with a thin coating of fibre glass.
    It's roughly 34" long.
The guy who the boat used to belong to had a couple of aerokits boats as well as this one, he had a sea queen and another boat but I cant remember the model name.
from looking at other boats the only boat I can really compare it with is the sea queen.
I will be uploading the boat with or without the engine on ebay in the next couple of months, I have two merco 61 marine engines that will be on ebay soon.

Steam Patrol Boat 'Dunlin'
This boat was scratch built from Harold Underhill plans, available still from Brown,Son and Ferguson. The hull was mahogany on 6mm ply frames. The engine was a Caton from Maxwell Hemmens supplied bya gas-fired Cheddar Puffin boiler. The propeller was a two inch four bladed brass job from Rivabo I think. The displacement of the boat is 25lb- a bit of a lump to carry to the water but it does work well once in the water. She has now been converted to electric using a MFA geared 540 type motor witha 7.5ah lead acid gel cell. Looking again at this video I begin to wish I had left it as steam but there is something to be said for 'switch on and go'.
I started building the boat in the mid nineties and it has now had a repaint- it always been a favourite. This video was taken in the early noughties at Crealy in Exeter.
