This was it's Second run, , this run was very successful, the speed took me a little by surprise, hence the expletive (Sorry). I would love to know the actual speed. After a short run, a connection on the electrics came adrift. all repaired and ready to run again now.

A 1980s lesro Stiletto speed boat kit.A total rebuild was needed . Siletto running set up is a Johnston air cooled speed 600 electric motor. 50 amp speed contoller 7.2 volt at4600mh power pack which will lift her out of the water at very good speed. Siletto is finished of in dark mahogany stripwood vinneer & Ivery white / post box red .I do think the older colours look better on the older models . I sail my boats at Sheringham Norfolk

Hi" thank you for your kind comments on my rebuild stiletto speed boat.I have a passion for the older classic boats. it did have a older smaller 500 motor unknown make when bought.But I upgraded to a johnston 600 which are used in diy power drills and are very fast but don't over heat with a built in coolant fan .A Prestney 😉

I believe this was the smaller version of the Lesro Rapier. I think they are fine looking boats - future classics. Your restoration looks fantastic and it seems to be going well too. My Rapier had it's maiden voyage recently. When I bought the kit from Lesro they told me it was the last one they had!

The size of speaker all depends on available space. if you fit the biggest possible speaker Im a cramped position, its never going to give out maximum output, as objects in front of it will disperse the sound waves, so in this instance, its far better tio fit a smaller speaker and be able to allow free space for the sound waves to exit properly.
Obviously, if you can fit the bigger version, its gives more bass and sounds far better.
remember to install the speaker on a firm base plate and ensure this fits neatly to wherever you have decided to install. now to create the "speaker sound box". if you think of an ordinary speaker at home on your stereo or surround sound system, it is in a sealed box [or cabinet], well same applies to get optimum performance out of a speaker in your boat too. I fitted mine in the bows of the Mersey, facing the stern, and used the "not used" bow section as the sound box, you also have the deadening effect of the water, which aids the sound output out of the speaker. remember to make an "air port" in the speaker plate, to allow air "in/out" too, not too big or small a hole mind.

based on a Lesro kit of the MK21 Sun tug. This slightly later version was fitted with fire monitors for handling tankers in the thames esturary as well as normal docking duites of liners and freighters.
Fitted with a decaperm 3:2 geared motor and twin 12v 7amphr batteries, it can run for several hours, even when towing other boats around the pool.. Fog horn installed, lighting system, working decca radar, Illuminated map desk and decca unit on the bridge.

this is my new build of a 60inch fire tender,bought plans from a ebay member in canada who resized them to 60 inch very large boat,don't know what size motor or prop to install so if anyone can help please advise me. would a 60 to 70mm propellor be okay on a boat this size? I will post more pics as I progress with the build. this boat is now in the build blog section with more pics of build

Yours will be a jolly nice craft when completed, its large however, and with the proper turn of speed it will use up a lot of water space very quickly. My fireboat is a mere 46" propelled by two Johnson 980's on 12v but it fair gobbles up water space and my local pond at Sheringham is completely useless.

I agree, that's why my 46inch is kept in Tynemouth where ther is a large lake compared to my local club in Warwickshire. Still it gives me the excuse to have multiple models of different sizes and my Derek old mum loves the idea she keeps my boats for me in the NE. Too muh information ????

HI fellow modellers, Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir.This model was scratch built using a fibre glass hull and plan obtained from a fellow modeller at the Bridgend Show in 2007. The front door and some fittings are made from plastic card and tube, decks are from ply and timber. On board figures are from the pound shop and car boot sales, modified by myself. The on board tank and half truck are RTR models that I have modified their looks to fit into a WWII theme for the craft. This craft has twin drive, 400 motors via 2.5/1 gearboxes. I tend to use both sticks on the TX for drive as this allows me to turn the model on a six pence.The dispatch door works from a rotary pot on the TX and via a rotary sail winch servo in the hull. I have just modified my Planet 5 TX to allow me to change my radio gear in this craft. This model has had meny trips on Cwmbran Boating Lake and at shows the society attend during the year. Still haven't allowed the tank or half track to run off the landing craft up the lake side slipway. one day I might get it on video. Hope you enjoyed the photo's. Regards GreyWolf

The item being made for display use and not finished off, no internal electronic fixtures. Did have a prop shaft and prop that had not been fitted correctly. 50% of all the fixtures had to be removed and refitted before they fell off, some didn't stay in place from the show back home. The model was finised off using a photo of the Milford star on the internet. The fish boxes and figures being obtained off DON one of the Society members who had a mould to make them in white metal, only required cleaning up and finishing off. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic on the water,a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The drive motor is a 550 with the lowest revs I had in MJB's this was married up to a 2.5/1 gearbox I also had in stock. The main motor and steam unit are supplied from a 7.2 volt nicad racing pack. This model has had meny fishing trips on Cwmbran Boating Lake and at shows the Society visit. Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir.This model was built using a Billings Kit, bought for me as a Christmas pressent in 2009. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The steam engine rotates using a stripped down minI servo, fitted under the motor housing on the deck, again linked to the main motor voltage. The two 9.6 volt AA batteries and control gear are mounted under the boats floor, forward locker, a minI servo for steerage is fitted under the rear seat and the receiver is located under the wood pile. Figures are self made from items obtained from the local pound shop. The modal can be seen sailing at Cwmbran Boating Lake or at shows the society visit. {"text":"HI fellow Modellers,\nAnother model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir.This model was built using a Billings Kit, bought for me as a Christmas pressent in 2009. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The steam engine rotates using a stripped down minI servo, fitted under the motor housing on the deck, again linked to the main motor voltage. The two 9.6 volt AA batteries and control gear are mounted under the boats floor, forward locker, a minI servo for steerage is fitted under the rear seat and the receiver is located under the wood pile. Figures are self made from items obtained from the local pound shop. The modal can be seen sailing at Cwmbran Boating Lake or at shows the society visit. Have had this boat 30 years .Started it for my eldest son but never finished. But now with two boys of his own I am determined to give it my best shot.
Completly stripped it, repaired delaminated sections,took out all the gear (motor,radio,servos) and started again.
I will update progress as time goes on but I am determined this will be on the water this year.
