Hi Guys,
Well what can I say.
This site was recommended to me by a good friend.
Although I have only been a member on this site a short time I have been made to feel extremely welcome. I have found that the members are a very friendly bunch, and there skills and knowledge is outstanding.
As I am not a member of any model boat club and the wife is not that interested in my model making it becomes a bit of a lonely hobby, so I would like to thank you Guys for the help and advice and encouragement.
Every one on this site is genuinely interested in all aspects of the hobby and sharing information and there help.
I would definitely recommend this site to the beginner or the more experienced model makers.

What the lower ranks sometimes call the officers, especially the higher ranking ones.
Due to the gold leaf on the peaks of their caps.
The higher you go the more 'brass'. 😉Liked by Martin555 -

Hi Doug, couldn't resist. As an ex brassy.
Now my wife has her new craft room I can get back to the modelling. I have to try and get some info on the new tug, still haven't been able to find details of the boat or maker. Label reads J&P McConnell, Mersey Tugs, Catalogue number 00603. At 1003mm long not too bad. Will be building it with my grandson for him to use. So anyone out there who knows the maker or model I'd appreciate a pointer or two.

PS The cap in my avatar is just one of many I collected during 30 odd years of globe-trotting to navies all over the world. That one is from the Leander class frigate 'Lynch' of the Chilean Navy. Later sold to the Ecuador Navy, from whom I have a Commandante's cap with more brass (egg?) on it, and one from their submarine 'Shiri'.
The one I cherish most though is from NAeL Minas Gerais of the Brazilian Navy, a former RN Colossus class carrier HMS Vengeance. I have found two kits of the Colossus class which I will try to build (and motorise) one as the original Vengeance and one as Minas Gerais with angled flight deck conversion etc. Wish me luck😉 -

Hi there, sorry no information other than the labels on each piece, (all the same).
My research has turned up one possible boat called HAZELGARTH, from the REA TOWING COMPANY, based in Liverpool 1950s and 60's. This is only based on photos I have been able to find. BTW. The funnel has a letter R in a diamond emblem molded on it. Help much appreciated.

further to my previous guestbook entry, my wife now fully understands a love a man has for his precious objects like lathe and a tower Drill and custom made workbench, and while I can't bring them back into the bedroom she will arrange for my bed to go to the workshop!!! hope summer come soon....🙄

Hi everybody,
Joined the site back in 2017 while I was getting over heart surgery, It taken a long time and 3 ops. but am now retired, recently married and looking forward to getting back into modelling. My model dockyard is now up and running ( 18ft workshop from the wife as a wedding present, She told me I had to move the lathe,drill and workbench out of the bedroom before she would move in. women are funny about things like that!!!. So now I've got a nice big workshop to start building in.) and she has got a nice clean bedroom, the art pf compromise is not dead..
I Have recently acquired a 46" huntsman Hull without any superstructure so now I've got to decide what type to build and see if I can get any plans.
As I said i joined back in 2017 but have spent the last 2 years lurking in the background, I've enjoying all the posts, you are an amazing bunch of people, very friendly, extremely diverse and I only hope that I can contribute as much as you all seem to.

I've been a member since Jan 2019 but building rc boats for over 6 months now! A real novice, but love doing it now I have the time. As a Novice I have really valued all the help and advice you get on this site.
I also like the build Blog as its a complete record of progress on building the boat for others to see and learn where maybe the build instructions are not like real life!Liked by fireboat -

Hello, Joined this site as returned to model boats after some years absence and think this site will be useful for info, hints etc. There are no boating hobbyist in my town, nearest boating lake is the superb one at Basingstoke, of which I am a member. Hello, Just been a member for a short time now and I really enjoy this site. Couple of reasons, I enjoy getting information from different parts of the world, different views. One of my main interests is English Working Sailboats, I find the feedback from the UK guys great! My ancestry is English, having sailed on the ship Abigail in 1628. My enthusiasm has been encouraged by all of the very helpful posts. Fast way to get information and collaboration.

Always keep researching and finding plenty of useful information. Additionally, I try to share information so not all disappears because of forums closing.
