LA Fireboat #2
This model was built from scratch except for the fiberglass hull, using styrene. The drives are Graupner VSD's and the 10 fire monitors are powered by BMW windshield washer pumps. The radio is a Spektrum DH 6 with a twin stick modification and fitted with a switch 8 to individually operate the monitors.

BRAVO ZULU! Again, very nice. The multifunction of your boat is great and lends alot of ideas. I'm definitely gonna look into the Windy City fireboat.
I once saw her up close when on vacation in Chicago in 97.

LA Fireboat #2 wip
Where do you sail your boat?... Where you can get the best pictures.
1/36 scale LA Fireboat #2 challenges the Portland Fire Bureau's 1927 fire boat, David Campbell, at the Portland Maritime Heritage Festival 2008.
We Lost...New pumps for next year though. - - - 1/36 scale model uses twin graupner voith schneider drives, and twin ESC. Main power is 12volts for the drives, and auxillary pump, and one 6v for the main monitor pump.

BRAVO ZULU! Nicely done. That gives me more incentive to build the Chicago Fireboat. Have a safe RC boating day!

Tito Neri
On the picturesI is my not finished Tito Neri, based on Graupners kit. As all my heavy tugs Tito have installed water ballast instead lead

Hi, I am about to build the Imara with a finished weight of 19kg. Your choice of water ballast is of great interest to me as I will not be capable of lifting mine when finished. if you are able to email me some details of how you constructed your ballast tanks, it would be greatly appreciated.

    kind regards

Scratch built SDM MkII tug built by UmI Ryuzuki
Scratch built SDM MkII tug 1/48 scale.

Hull started out as polystyrene foam and plywood. Started July 29,2006 and in the water by Aug. 11th for sea trials. Detailed over the following 18 months.

The model is powered by 12vdc using Graupner Speed400-2.33:1 gear drive, and the small Graupner Schottel drives #1761. Separate ESC and Steering control for each drive.

The Lighting is 3mm LED cast into clear, or tinted, polyurethane lamps.

It sails the Pacific Northwest, USA, homeport Portland, Oregon.

Thanks for the info. Simple really. Clear cast resin round a LED and a fine paint brush or even a hollow brass fitting. Brilliant idea. 😀

BG Coulies built by Geoff Lewis
This is BG Coulies built by Geoff Lewis. its a French Harbour tug that he built following an article in a well know magazine, advertising a set of plans, thanks to the office photocopier he saved himself several quid.

Coullies is driven by 2 550 motors driving Graupner scothell drives (not yet independantly controlled). 12v 4ah Gell battery and some roofing lead makes up the balast.

The frames are 3mm MDF with a balsa and ply skin built to 1/32 scale, the figure sat on the anchor winch used to be a German infrantry man. He recently obtained some Beccs transfers to add some more finishing touches including the french flag.

What does Coullies mean? (pronounced cooee) find a dictionary...

    Umi Ryuzuki:
    Congratulations on your build.
    The model looks great.
Your mast looks a lot like the one I'm yet to build.
    Keep up the good work.

Fireboat being restored by Dave Kershaw
Hi, this is my Ebay Crash Tender restoration project stripped ready for re-build.

It is an original kit but needs a lot of work as you can see (some times I think it would be asier to start again - but good fun).

I'm not sure how old it is exactly, it cost me £50 from ebay. Hopefully it will be ready for next summer.

It will be electric powered, probably by a graupner speed 600 single screw.
