After looking through the Smit Nederland kit.
I've found that the Kort Nozzles are missing!
So, the kit has missing parts😠!
I sent an email to amazon.
Let see what they say!
It looks as if there's going to be another kit going back!
Weren't we just talking about QC!!!!!
Is a Court Nozzle perhaps a Royal Spokesperson Marky?😁😂
Good job I live outside the jurisdiction of the Beefeaters!!
(Although, I doo like a nice bit a roast beef meself😋)
😎
Hi Ed,
I am very sorry to hear that. Very disappointing.
You would think that they would make sure that the kit contained all the components before leaving the factory, especially at the price they charge for these kits.
OK, this morning I got an email.
From someone at Billing Boats.
Requesting my address!
Which, I then sent in a reply email!
This, I must say they replied right away!
Ref Thin hull: Looking at the Build Manual-
As I suspected (same as with the large FG hull of my Deans Manxman) the first step in the build is to add stiffeners and deck supports to the hull. See Fig. 1 on page 3.
I might be tempted to add at least one more stiffener (cross beam) further aft, after considering where I might need access to the internal gubbins😉
Good luck Matey👍
😎
The F-14 Controller works as it should!
My batteries for the F-14 arrived today.
I checked them and they were fully charged!
The F-14 is a spectacular controller.
It going to be a very useful tool in my RC arsenal!

OK, the folks at Billing Boats.
Are sending me the Kort Nozzles!
Or at least that's what I think!
They did ask me for my address!
So, they should arrive in a few weeks!
So, it'll be a few weeks before I recieve them!
In the mean time I had ordered some glues.
From Cornwall Model Boats! Which I'm still waiting for!
And there's other supplies I had ordered as well.
So, for now what I'm going to concentrate.
On is her drawing and plans!
Also figure out how I'm going to RC her!
And the electrical part of the boat!
In the morning I'm going to post.
The contents of the Smit Nederland!
In pictures.....
As I've been told folks may find that informational!
The only weak part of the model.
That I can see are the rudders.
Which are now made of acrylic plastic!
They use to be made of brass!
This assemblie should be done with care!
As this area come under a lot of stress!
Taking ones time in assembling.
The rudder would prove wise!

I looked at the instructions.
But, There aren't any recommendations.
As to what paint company.
To get the paints needed.
For the Smit Nederland kit!
So, My questions is?
Has anyone built the Smit Nederland?
And if so what paints did you use?
I would really appreciate any help!
Cheers, Ed
Hi E,
There are three distributors in USA http://www.billingboats.com/articles/distributors-america.html
Nearest ones to you are in NJ or NY. There's also one in CA.
Only place in this list I know (knew🙄) is Las Condes, Santiago de Chile.
Was often there in the nineties for meetings with MoD /Navy and our agent there.😉
The Billing paints are small bottles and quite expensive, and you'll need an air-brush for the big bits!!
I'd look for the nearest R-O or Tamiya spray can equivalent if I were you.
The excellent conversion chart that Martin found can help you there 😊
Cheers, Doug 😎
PS the paint numbers are on page 16 of the Building Instructions.
Seems they've stopped putting them up with BB numbers, now just in triangles!! See pic.
The Smit Nederland contents in a nutshell!
There's quite a bit of supplies.
The Prop Shafts have to be assemled!
The Rudders also have to be assebled as well!
Her props look to be balanced!
But, off hand I can't tell right now!
Will have to check them later!
There are a few plastic bins.
With hardware and cast brass hardware!
It looks as if my pictures.
Came out in reverse sequence!
Sorry about that!
Never mind they came out ok!

TO REAR ADMIRAL FIGTREE; cc COMMODORE AND CPO CASH WESTERN SQUADRON:
"I might just take my time. And take a year on the build! "
By all means Admiral.
In the meantime how are the plans progressing for getting Brooklyn launched and commissioned?
We all want to see her puffing and whistling round the pond 👍
Also Western Squadron is banking on her as replacement for St Jacinto which is due for decommissioning and disposal.
Cheers FLEET
Doug 😎
The Smit Nederland use to come with solid brass rudders.
The kit now comes with Acrylic rudders!
This step is very important!
If the rudders aren't glued correctly.
They will fail under stress!
So, I purchased Acrylic glue!
The glue is by SCIGRIP!
80% hold in 24 hours
So, since I've never worked with Acrylic Plasic.
Or Acrylic Glues before.
What I'm going to do is use some scrap acrylic.
Glue the two scrap pieces together.
And see how they glue and how they hold together!
So, If anyone out there has worked with acrylic glues and Plastic.
I would greatly appriciate it. If you had any words of advice!

Yesterday, I received the Robbe 16 channel upgrades!
I installed them as per the instruction!
I have tried different ways!
And no matter which way I put the connections.
In the controller the upgrade doesn't work!
No Joy!
The controller is fully charged!
And the reciever battery is fully charged as well!
But, the upgrade doesn't function at all!
What to do?
I believe the upgrade isn't compatible!
And that's why it's not working!
Here we go again having to get in contact.
With folks from another company!
Let's see how this turns out!
Stay tuned!
For the adventures of the 16 channel upgrade!

The art of model making.

Chapter three "How to select the right radio control equipment "
