Today I worked on her Tow Chaffing Gear!
The bar that goes from Port to Starboard aft!
It was fairly easy to make.
The wood piece is laminated soft wood!
I glued two pieces of soft wood.
Glueing them on an angle!
And just rounded the edges!
After having glued them.
They kept there shape!
For now I'm not glueing it together yet!
The Bar comes off.
That's to make painting.
A bit easier later on!
Oh, I drilled a 1mm hole in the deck.
That's to make it easy to wire.
Her aft running light!

Today I worked on her Main Cabin!
And yes, There was steaming involved!
See both port and starboard sides!
Have a slight angle towards the front!
And there's a slight incline as well!
You first start by assembling.
The deck which is comprised of 4 pieces of wood!
I used epoxy for this step.
As I wanted for the deck to be strong!
I then glued the aft cabin wall!
I then steamed her port side.
Bending it ever so slightly!
I then glued the front of the Main Cabin wall.
I then did the same for the starboard side!
Next, I glued the aft end of the Main Cabin wall.
To the aft end of the Main Cabin deck!
I sand and filled where needed!
Lastly, I glued the Main Cabin Deck!
To the Main Cabin itself!
Special Note:
I have ordered the Smit Nederland Fitting Kit.
It should arrive by next Tuesday morning!
Thanks, To all who made this possible!
Now my Smit Nederland will have.
The original Brass Becker Rudders!

The original Brass Becker Rudders!
Today, I just worked on her Main Deck!
There is a support under the Main Deck.
Which has to be placed centered to the deck.
Or the Main Deck won't sit on the model correctly!
I centered the support by measuring.
5mm from the aft end of the Main Deck.
Then measuring 7mm from her port side!
This gave me enough clearance to place.
The Main Deck Support in place!
I then used PVA glue.
Which gave me time to move the Main Deck.
As I centered the Main Deck!
The corners of the front side needed to be sanded down!
After sanding down the front side.
The whole Main Deck fit in it's place with no problems!
The whole point of the Main Deck support.
Is to give the Main Deck a upward slope!
All is good Main Deck fits nicely!
Tomorrow, I'm going to build the Pilot House!
I'm doing this because the instructions.
Don't have any info on where to place.
The doors or anything else!
And the drawing is smaller than the Model.
So, I can't get the measurement that way!
So, After the Pilot House is make.
I can at lease estimate where the doors go!

I've been very busy assembling the Pilot House!
Had to use some green stuff!
Worked like a charm!
The anchor windlass.
Along with other component.
Like the simulated vents.
On the main house aft!
Where built last night as well!
Oh, the Windlass Control Station.
Is also completed too!
They could have done a better job of it though!
Hopefully it will look better when painted!

With help from RNinMunich "DOUG".
With help from RON from Canada.
I was able to Purchase the Old Billings Smit Nederland Fittings Kit!
From a dealer in Canada, who RON saw had the Fittings Kit!
Who then told DOUG who then told RON.
That I was Building The Smit Nederland Tug!
Anyway the rest is history!
Thanks, Guys the Brass Becker Rudders.
Are already in place!
And a Special Thanks!
To Ken Saunders from Canada.
For having the Fittings Kit!
I really lucked out!👍👍👍
As you can see there's a big difference.
In the now Acrylic Becker Rudders!
Versus the old unavailable Brass Becker Rudders!

I've heard a lot of guys.
Had trouble with assembling.
The Pilot House Doors.
I read sometimes the doors.
Were accidently glued to the frames!
I took a different approach!
To how the instructions say to assemble them!
My way was to make a frame.
That incased the door.
Letting it slide back and forth!
I then glued strips to the frame.
To hold the doors from falling outward!
But, for now I have the doors.
Moving freely with out locking.
The doors to the frame!
I'll lock them in after painting the Pilot House!
The frame will then be stained.
A mahogany stain will do nicely!
Oh, the doors aren't finished yet!
I have to add some details to the doors!
That, I'll do Tomorrow!
Also, They work I didn't accidently glue them in place! Yeah! 🤞

To day I installed the port lights.
Something very simple to do!
It's a pity there going to be painted over!
I also made the Raft Container release device!
This you can see aft of the Main Cabin!
Note:
The supports for the Container.
Was half way made!
Hopefully no one will notice it!

Not much done today!
But, I did order a bottle of EzeCoat!
It should arrive in a weeks time!
I figure it's time to start sealer her up!
I believe Doug "RNinMunich"!
had recommended it a while ago!
Maybe tomorrow, I'll do a little work on her!
I have to slow down the build.
It's suppose to last the winter!
At this rate I'll be done too soon!
Does anyone have a good source for LED's?
I need 2mm White, Red, and Yellow?
I live in the States! But, will order from the UK!
Would really appriciate the help!
Just checked on Component Shop website Ed, and it appears they don't stock 2mm Led's, the start at 3mm, but I notice they have a 2.1mm Led, a bit of a strange shape, but it may just fit your bill!🤞 https://www.componentshop.co.uk/leds/ultra-bright/21-mm-leds.html
Cheers, Pete
Hi Ed. Try Lighthouse LEDs, Mouser Electronics or Digikey. From what I understand all base in USA, don’t think Mouser or Digikey has minimum orders, don’t know about Lighthouse. Might see if there’s a Frys electronics near you, also check online for STEM or robotics supplies.
The running lights for the Smit Nederland.
Are very small about 4mm or so!
So, I need 2mm LED's!
I found these I think there in Spain!
